A neighbor that we all refer to as the drunk came to my door today. He was crying and asking me if i could take his dog. He said he would give me 10 dollars a week, provide his food and everything else. That his neighbor has threatened to shoot his dog. IT was a stray he took in as a puppy a year ago. The dog is now a fence jumper, non aggressive, big baby, handsome. OF course i cannot take the dog. OF course i have made calls but not much luck. Guess the neighbor that is threatening to shoot the dog has also come to blows with the owner. What a mess. Mary walked out, touched noses with the dog, no aggression there at all, nor was he upset by my zany two at the window. I did notice when he bent over to smooch on the dog the dog flinched. Sighs. WE live in a pocket where pitties are still allowed. THere is no where else around us that allows them. The shelters will of course put him down the minute he goes in. I had no answers, and i feel bad. He said he was concerned that the collar might break, it was leather, and pretty stretched out so i gave him Victor's old hunting collar. It at least was in better condition and i had just picked up a new one for Victor. THe old one was grimy and didn't want to wash clean. WHat a mess...what a nice dog. WHat a mess of an owner. Anyone want a black big baby pitty handsome as all get out?

Oh, that is so, so sad. :(

You can't take him because of existing dogs and other demands, right? Because otherwise I wonder if we could get pet insurance and raise a little nestegg for the stray (if you would be able keep him).

I can't take him because i have three dogs and two people in a house the size of most people's garage. I can't take him because who knows if i will be here at all or if i will be living somewhere else. I pray to God i am not here in this dump forever. THere are less and less places as we all know where such a dog can live. IT left me with a heavy heart for he really did seem like a sweetheart in the hands of a fool. No better than the two i cleaned up for that woman last week. I saw a dead grey thing in the road this morning and pulled over to see if it was the dog i bathed but it was not. I just feel so sorry for all of them. Especially when i believe more dogs are stuck with owners like this and like that woman of the two than responsible pet owners who do right by their animals.

Yeah, I wouldn't be able to take him either. :(

Hopefully someone will come along. Maybe ACampbell needs to adopt another Chaz animal, lol.

I've posted him on my Facebook but if you could somehow get a picture of him, that would help out a lot.

YOur all the best. I will try to get a pic of him soon even if it does mean that would require talking with his owner again. Sighs.

A man's neighbor threatens to shoot his dog. If it were me this is what I would do.

1. Try to get recording on video tape or at least audio tape of man threatening to shoot the guy's dog.

2. Call the police with the information and tell them that the neighbor is making terroristic threat by threatening to kill the dog.

A terroristic threat is a crime generally involving a threat to commit violence communicated with the intent to terrorize another, to cause evacuation of a building, or to cause serious public inconvenience, in reckless disregard of the risk of causing such terror or inconvenience. It may mean an offense against property or involving danger to another person that may include but is not limited to recklessly endangering another person, harassment, stalking, ethnic intimidation, and criminal mischief.
Terroristic Threat Law & Legal Definition

Being a dog is property this would apply. If the dog is jumping the fence and getting into the neighbors yard and this is what is causing the threats then the guy should take his $10.00 a week he would pay the original poster and build his fence higher.
