I was wondering if you were picky about your bed sheets? Do you have to have a certain thread count or brand name? I've usually gotten hand me down sheets from my family or friends... or bought cheap ones from walmart or some other department store. I've never paid more than like 30 or so dollars for a set of sheets...lol I know people that won't buy anything less than a certain thread count and will pay a ridiculous amount for a set of sheets. I guess I consider a ridiculous amount to be 60 to 80 dollars for a set of sheets...lol I realize they charge even more than that if you go with the higher quality and thread count and of course size. I have a king size bed. I just got a good deal on these egyptian 1200 count sheets I am laying on at the moment and wondering if they'd really be worth the full price money they'd normally be, they just feel like sheets to me :)

I don't go by thread count really, I go by feel. We have two sets of jersey sheets that are my faves, followed by some awesome 350? thread count super soft sheets from target, then a set of microfiber sheets from walmart, etc.

I get mine at Ross and usually pay $35 or less for queen size, deep pocket (my mattress is 18" thick) 500 or more thread count sheets. I can't stand the low thread count ones and have even gotten hives from them in the past because of all the sizing they're treated with.

uh.... no idea? I get mine at Ikea for 10€ for queen sized. :p As long as it's soft, I'm good. I get fitted sheets though. I HATE the none fitted ones. They drive me bonkers.

We got ours for a wedding present (One set black, one set purple and one set white) and they are Egyptian Cotton as well. I love them, but I doubt I'd pay full price for them or even buy them myself. My aunt bought them and we almost crapped ourselves after the wedding when we opened them.

I can only sleep with Jersey sheets. And super soft (to the touch) blankets. I can't stand anything that feels slippery.

Ha, I actually work for a company that sells sheets (among other things.) Ridiculously expensive sheets, no less. And nancy2394, I'm pretty much the same attitude about sheets - I started with hand-me-downs, and my current sheets are from Ikea and Walmart (I would never shop at Walmart for myself, but I inherited them from a film shoot.) I always preferred the hand-me-downs, because I love how the older sheets get, the softer they get.

I've learned from my job that thread count isn't the only important thing. You can have a high thread count sheet that uses inferior thread and it won't be any better. Thread count being the number of threads in a square inch (? I think). But imagine the difference between 300 threads of fine cotton, and 300 threads of twine. Same thread count but I wouldn't want to sleep on the twine sheets!

I've also always thought that more than $30-40 for a set of sheets was outrageous. That was before the Peacock Alley rep brought us samples of their sheets to feel. OMG. Expensive, quality percale sheets are soooo soft. Like buttery soft. Like the difference between cashmere and rough wool. Someday when I can afford them, that's all I'll have in my house!

That's why I go to Ross, lol! I can get those obscenely expensive sheets at a huge discount ;) There really is a big difference in how they feel -- and how they last.

As high as I can get. I dislike the jersy sheets, or the flannel sheets... I LOVE crisp linen sheets. Sadly my fave sheet died. It was soo crisp (real linen).

If not linen then fine fine cotton.

This is the one area in my life where I love my creature comfort.

I also love crisp sheets. I get mine at Kohls and only when they are on sale. Just bought new sheets for all the beds here about a month ago.

I prefer Egyptian cotton. It feels sooo much better. I had a set of 500 tc egyptian cotton sheets for my queen size, but we traded up and got a king. I can't afford new sheets right now, lol, so we have regular cotton sheets. I can't stand the fleece or microfiber sheets feel. I'm not hugely crazy about linen or flannel either, though in the winter flannel can be nice.

**** right.

This is what I do. Just got an organic, 350 ct cotton duvet for $19.99. Had the original price of $99.99 still on it.

And you do usually want to go by feel as well...however, there are some sheets (I forget which ones), that actually get much, much softer with wear & washes...but don't feel all that great at first.

now that it's getting cold, our flannel sheets are on the bed. I love them. I have no idea what the thread count on our other sheets are. We got them at Wal-Mart on black friday last year. So far they've held up pretty well and I like them
