don't ask questions, just tell me what I should read next. I just finished a bunch of Robin Hobb's books, including the farseer trilogy, the liveship traders, and the tawny man series. Before that I read the name of the wind. I think I'm done with fantasy for a little bit though, or maybe I'm just done with Robin Hobb, I dunno. Other books I've enjoyed are the poisonwood bible, chronicles of narnia, harry potter, pride and prejudice, jane eyre, the alchemist, life of pi, time traveler's wife, wicked, the lovely bones, etc etc. I have a varied taste in books... I just want something fictional that's going to entertain me and get my mind off of work. I'm working 2 jobs right now... this week I'm working 100 hours. So I'm using books to escape life for a while. I like it better than tv because I can do it outside at least.

Anyway, I would really appreciate suggestions. I have the whole sookie stackhouse series yet to read, but it's in paperback and right now I'm sorta stuck on ebooks because I love my kindle uber much.

Hobb has a new series started, sort of picks up where Tawny Man left off. I'm not quite sure how I feel about it yet.

I always enjoy re-reading the Earth's Children series from Jean M. Auel, so that's my recommendation! Clan of the Cave Bear/Valley of the Horses/Mammoth Hunters/The Plains of Passage/The Shelters of Stone. I can't wait until the next one comes out!

Thanks Hayley :) I read the Amazon blurb.. sounds very interesting!

Thanks Zoom. It seems like every book you've recommended, I read and love. I read Robin Hobb because of something you posted somewhere sometime. But I already read the Earth's Children less than a year ago (and loved them and own them thanks to you.) It actually wouldn't be a bad idea to read them again sometime :)

I'm working my way through "Hyperion" right now by Dan Simmons. Haven't quite made up my mind about it, though honestly, it is vaguely reminiscent of Rothfuss' writing style. It might be something else to check out.

Also, if you like historical based fiction, go pick up pretty much anything by Bernard Cornwell, be it the Winter King trilogy or his Sharpe series. Also, much love to Raymond Feist, but he's straight up fantasy and you said you want to move away from that.

Sophie Kinsella's books. Shopaholic has a formula but her other books don't follow it (and I love the Shopaholic books despite the formula.) Definitely light, easy reading material. I think my favourite is The Undomestic Goddess.

Neal Stephenson novels. I recommend Snow Crash, Zodiac and The Diamond Age, though any of his books are great (Cryptonomicon is a loooooong read, though great). Futuristic fantasy and sci-fi sort of mixed together.

China Mieville is another fantastic author, I recommend Perdido Street Station. Anything and everything by Neil Gaiman. You have similar tastes as me it seems!

Neil Gaiman rocks my freaking socks.

Ive been on a Tamora Pierce kick for awhile now too. Some of her books might bit a little too young adult for some people, but I really enjoyed them, even as an adult.

ETA, you might also like a book called "The Thirteenth Tale" and the Castaways of the Flying Dutchman series.
