Doberkim, not yet. I'm going to have a fecal done anyway when she gets her second distemper/parvo. What makes me think it isn't giardia or coccidia is the fact that it isn't genuine, watery diarrhea. It's just loose stool. I can't be entirely sure though, so I'm having it done.

She's probably eating about 10% of the bone on the neck bones. She usually spends about an hour chewing on them.

I gave her some of a chicken drumstick tonight. She definitely had an easier time crunching the bone. We'll see how she does with that. I never fed drumsticks to Dakota because he doesn't chew, but Eve is GREAT about chewing everything at least a few times before she gulps it down.

Cornish game hens are a good idea, I'll see if I can get some at the store next time I go.
dogs with parasites dont have to have watery diarrhea, a fecal (sent to the lab, or a giardia antigen test) should be done.

if shes only eating that little bit of bone, no wonder shes got soft stool! i would up her bone like the previous poster mentioned, and see how she does. shes barely eating ANY bone whatsoever!

and some dogs can eat rib bones, so be careful. at 10 months rah ate an entire side of beef ribs (the 12 inch variety) in 4 minutes. i dont know how he did it, but he did it.

How much bone to meat would you feed, Dober? I've gotten so much conflicting information on this. Some people say as little as 10% and others say up to 50%.

Personally, I feed 50-60% RMB's (which, to me, is an edible bone covered in a layering of muscle meat); 10% organs; and the rest is muscle meat and supplements.

The guidelines are just that: guidelines. Feed the amount of bone that works for your dog.

I feed Nutro NC with my raw food.

Warning ears ago I fed a Cheap food Pedigree with raw food.

And due to the lack of moisture in the dog food and the corn, a few dogs got real HARD dust like no smell painfull to pass stools.

Holly had a really bad time when she ate drumsticks and had really watery stool. Do you feed the backs/necks? Check the backs before you feed them though because I have seen some organ meat still attached to the backs at times. I do have to admit though that most beef bones are not entirely eatible. Hannah will not eat the rib bones but the neck bones she'll try to eat but not get to far into them. Maybe try oxtail? That's got some bone in it.

RD, is there any chicken in Evo? For the longest time I couldnt figure out what was giving OC loose stooles as a puppy. My breeder sent him home with coccidia pills BUT none of the puppies actually came out positive from the lab results so it was just a preventitive. After switching a variety of kibbles around and looking at ingredient lists I finally figured out that he was allergic to chicken!!!! He can have raw or cooked chicken fine, but he is allergic to the way they process it into kibble. Perhaps Eve is havng an allergic reaction to something in the kibble? Try giving her something with lamb in it as lamb is the easiest meat for dogs to digest from what I have been told. Also looks into meats such as buffalo and duck. Kibbles that cater to dogs with allergies (like Timberwolf) often have a variety of different meats from the standard beef and chicken found in most kibbles.

I agree! Holly had a similar problem with Innova, Canidae chicken meal and rice, and Eagle Pack as well. We put her on Natural balance and things got a little better but right after we switched her to the Timberwolf organics Dakota Bison we haven't had a problem at all. She did got on the Solid Gold Wolfcub but that was more expensive than the Timberwolf and we think she does even better on the Timberwolf organics.

Why don't you try making your own dog food? I know its time consuming but it works! My dog had stool, stumach, and ear problems when she was young. (She was being fed IAMs when we got her.) So our vet suggested making our own dog food, and it worked great! If you're interested in the recipe I can give it to you! :)
