Important Question !! About My Dogs Health !!

Alright So Heres The Thing, My Dog Jake Has Really Dadruffy Skin And His Fur Is Always Shedding, Even In The Summer. Hes An Akita And I Know They Shed Alot But I Dont Think There Supposed To In The Summer. Which Brings Me To My Second Question, His Ears On The Inside Are All Flaky And Hes Always Scratching Them, I Tried Washing His Ears, But It Doesnt Work, But If You Gently Pull On The Hair Inside The Flakes Will Come Out. Also, He Always RubS His Chin And His Nose On The Carpet And Rips Up THE SKIN Whenever He Lays Down. I Got Him From The Pound About Two Years Ago, And He Would Always Eat Whatever We Gave Him, And Now Hes Really Really Picky With His Food He Only Eats Sometimes And He Never Seems Excited To Eat, And Hell Sometimes Go A Day Without Eating. Im Starting To Get Really Concerned And I Dont Know If I Should Bring Him To The Vet Or If I Can Take Care Of This Myself ?

I bet if you switch his food to something higher in quality (Canidae, Eagle Pack, Innova, California Natural, Timberwolf Organics, Orijen, etc) you'd find that his skin problems would clear up significantly.

You could try an aloe and tar sulfur shampoo or get a special sebhhoric shampoo from your vet, but it will only be a temporary measure. Switching his food will do more for him, but the shampoo will probably make him feel a lot better in the meantime.

try a 2 ingredient diet like duck & potatoe or fish and potatoe
wheat is a big allergan to most dogs - causes severe itching and then dandruff

worked for my Minka

switching his food to a better quality food will help him a great deal also you might want to try Missing Link. Its a product you can find at your local health store is a little pricey when you first look at it but it goes a long way. You will be amazed at the result from just switching his food!
