and do you tend to buy the same make and even model of car and be loyal to it...or do have no issue changing if the reviews are good on a different make/model?

Do you have criteria like American vs Import or other things like that?

Nosy Houndy wants to know!

I drive a Toyota Camry, hubby drives a Cadillac Deville. I wouldn't say we have brand loyalty per se, but there are certain makes and models that we avoid.

For example, Fords. Hubby said we will never, ever buy a Ford. He's a mechanic and does the maintenance on all our vehicles, and he says that Fords are an absolute b**ch to work on.

We don't really have certain critera other than that. Hubby is very much a car guy, and we would have 50 different cars parked in front of our house if I let him buy them all.

Random comment: If you're one of those who tries to support the U.S. and purchase American cars only, Hubby said get a Toyota. He said they actually have more domestic-made parts (and manufacturing plants) than most "American" brands, including Ford and Chevy.

At this moment I drive a Ford Freestar. As far as mini vans go I love it. It has a 4.1 liter engine, the towing package, air adjustable rear end (for when you tow) ALL kinds of comfort features, plug ins all over the dang place for the kids junk, and one of my favorite things is the cute arrow turn signals in the mirrors! (yes, I am easily amused)

My son has my old Ford ranger..........it's a 1990 and STILL going strong without a single engine/transmission problem all these years. And the body has nearly no rust! Just a tad bit around the bottom of the doors starting.

Kevin is driving a 1994 ford tempo right now that used to belong to his grammy. We bought it from her because his Kia poop out! It's in FABULOUS shape.........not a spec of rust, runs great, and has NEVER had any type of mechanical problems.

I mention the rust issues because we live in Indiana where salted roads are an EVERY year occurance ;)

I do tend to buy fords, they have ALWAYS been good to me, never had a lemon yet.

I have a Mazda 6, and Ian has a Nissan Altima.

I'm not loyal to any particular make, however, I have a general dislike of American cars. More specifically, American economy cars. I just feel that imports are more reliable. Japan has pretty much perfected the compact economy car, in my opinion. I'd really like an Acura TL for my next car, so I guess I'll be sticking with Japanese cars at least for a while ;)

My previous car was a Honda Civic, and the only issues I had with it over a 7 year period were with the cooling system.

I have a Taurus, and while that screams unexciting...it gets 30 mpg. ok..I don't drive 'city', but who cares..it's working for me. what do I insist on??? my car HAS to be white with hunter green interior. see....I'm a girl, so that's just how it is. LOL I would care less what the heck it is, but it has to be those colors.

hubby drives a Chevy Silverado truck. he loves it, but would change to a Ford IF the gas mileage was better. he won't buy foreign...nor any Chrysler product. hey...each person has their own likes and dislikes. :)

I drive a Cobalt SS Supercharge.

I wouldn't change the make/model right now...as I hate paying so much into it...having it almost paid off..and then getting a different car, and having payments all over again.

If I was to get another car though, i wouldn't just look at Chevrolet.

Apparently we like VAG cars. Ryan has a Volkswagen; I have an Audi. Unless it's a Saab, I'd like to stick with the German cars. He's said that he wants a Subaru, so I wouldn't be surprised if he goes Japanese at some point.

I'm a loyal Toyota driver. The first car I bought myself was a Camry, then the next was a Tundra and the next a Prius. I'm afraid we may have to look elsewhere when we get a bigger SUV because I don't think the Sequoia will cut it.

We also have a Nissan Xterra. Works well for now for transporting the heathens. :)

We have a few vehicles here.
2006 Ford Focus hatchback. Unexciting, but good economy and large enough to haul a dog or my keyboard gear if I'm using a small rig. Out of all the compacts we looked at this had the most room for the driver and front passenger.

2001 Dodge conversion van. Living room on wheels- TV, DVD, etc. Big enough for both dogs, all my keyboard gear, but it's like driving a sheet of plywood into the wind for economy- good is 13mpg. :(

We also have a '96 Miata that my daughter drives. It's got a ton of miles on it but has been a reliable vehicle.

Preferred transport- one of our 2 motorcycles! 2005 Suzuki C50 or 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500.

BMW - for a daily my choice is one of the E30 models. They're pre-computers and basically bulletproof, tons of fun to drive, CHEAP parts - and you rarely need any.

The 750il is the IDEAL car for a trip.

People would be amazed at how NOT expensive BMW parts are, provided you don't go with a very late model, but then, parts for any late model car are outrageous, especially the Japanese makes. Not to mention most of 'em are a bitch to work on.

I love the old Mercedes as well; you can't get much more dependable than that, and they are beautiful, and I really love driving Porsches.

I have a '02 Chrysler Town & Country mini, hubby a '00 Dodge Sport Mini, very reliable since trany probs were corrected back '00-'01. Good gas milage, room for 4-5 dogs, 4-5 people, camping & agility gear when packed correctly. In a pinch the T&C can sleep 4 people and 4 dogs when you forget the poles for your tent and you're CAMPING at an agility trial. MPG 22 hwy/cty combo all hwy up to 27mpg. Prefered mode of travel 40 ft A class RV and the money not to worry about gas milage

A '98 Ford Escort... when I practice. I can't WAIT until I'm 17. :D But then I will still be driving the '98 Ford Escort that my grandma had, for 10 years. But it's as good as new. She only put gas in it 3 times last year. ;) Other than that I'm allowed to drive the 2005 Toyota Avensis. (Dont have those in the States I think.)

We have a 94 pontiac grand am and it's been the most reliable car ever. It gets 32 miles per gallon too. It has had some things wrong with it but hubby being a machinic he was able to fox those without taking it to a repair shop. So that cuts down costs ALOT! It's not the most beautiful car in the world with 2 different colors blues painted on it, it's covered in mud half the time and it has some scratches but it runs perfect.

Then we have a 97 Ford F-250. Hubby's truck. He loves that thing. Calls it his red mule. He's never had a major problem with it and it's always been a wonderful truck considering he uses it for towing and pulling. The original owner had this truck custommade for towing large horse trailers. Hubby won't part with it for anything.

Then there is a 91 Honda, currently not running but is due to be resurected this weekend provided it doesn't rain. That has 1 tiny rust and that's it. Interior is nice and well taken care of. Imagine that will be good on gas too.

2004 Pontiac Vibe. While I am VERY not a "car person", I really like my Vibe. It is practical and gets good gas mileage. However, I can see now that with Hannah, 2 dogs and now a house I need to upgrade. I'll probably keep the Vibe for work and get a quad cab pickup.

On that note, does anybody with small kids here have a quad cab? Does a car seat work in the rear seats?

Puck, we have a Chevy silverado quad cab and yes, a car seat works in the back seat.

Right now our vehicles are the 2007 chevy truck, and a 1994 Toyota Landcruiser. The truck is a behemoth but gets decent gas mileage, especially compared to the landcruiser which probably gets around 12mpg

I have no idea what I want to drive when I start driving. I know what cars I like the looks of, but ultimately it's maneuverability and fuel efficiency that matters most to me... I like very responsive cars.
