Do you have a pic, b/c that is pretty vague. Color? coat texture/length? Size when full grown? I have a book full of breeds and rare breeds but it was pretty hard to go on only that information. I can name some Russian ones off and you can see if it is any of them.

    Russian Bear Schnauzer
    Russian Laika
    Russian Owtcharka
    Russian Particolour hound
    Russian Sheepdog
    Russian Wolfhound

I know the Laika needs plenty of grooming and brushing so that probably is not it. As well as the Russian Sheepdog.

I did what I can to help you figure it out. If you get any more info let me know.

I've seen a Schnauzer type dog called the Russian Black Terrier (I think) that was obviously black that didn't shed...advertised in the local paper as this amazing new breed...
