Hey guys, I'd like to get some opinions on what kind of mixed breed my late, great dog Ebony was. We got her from a local shelter when she was three months old, where she was simply listed as "lab mix."
She was about lab size, but only weighed fifty pounds and wasn't blocky like a lab, but light and slim. She had dainty cat feet and mobile ears that could prick up (sometimes one would even stand upright for a few seconds), hang to the sides, or be plastered back against her head. Her double coat had a fuzzy grey undercoat and a stiff, coarse, shiny over coat. But the fur on her legs and head was smooth and silky. Her tail was ENORMOUS AND THICK! It reached down to her back ankles when it was at rest--but usually it was wagging instead. It reminds me of a German shepherd tail, could she have had GSD in her?
We saw two of Ebony's sisters at the shelter with her . . . one was black with a small white spot on her chest and the other was black with small tan markings around her chest and legs. Ebony was all black, but in the summer her coat sometimes had a reddish sheen when the sun hit it just right.
Edit: Almost forgot . . . she would do a crouching, grinning stare when she played. Part border collie?
