Lots of Pitbulls
a few (unfriendly) Rottweilers - their owner is to blame for that, he's not much better than his dogs..
2 Dalmatians
a couple of Dobermans
3 Goldens
3 Labs (2 yellow, 1 black)
1 German Shorthaired Pointer
lots of Shelties
lots of Border Collies
2 Miniature Schnauzers
1 Standard Schnauzer
1 Bouvier
1 Collie (sable smooth)
2 German Shepherds (1 black, 1 sable)
a couple Dogos
lots of mutts

I'm sure there are more, but that's all I can think of right now.

I just recently moved, and the only dogs in my new neighborhood are a lab mix named Hoops, some dog my mom says looks like a rat (I think he's a chiuhauha, I haven't seen him) and a lovely pitbull that belongs to the neighbors behind me.

In my old neighborhood there were lots of dogs. For instance, 2 great pyreneese, 1 rottweiler, several labs, a couple goldens, 2 dachshunds, 1 standard poodle pup, I saw a guy walking a Neapolitan Mastiff and a Swiss Mountain Dog once. I met a Border Collie named Brenda. There was one house that had an old chow mix, a lab mix and a something mix pup that was rather large and disobedient :p. None of the dogs in my old or new neighborhoods are chained, and all seem to be well taken care of.

Theres quite a few dogs in my area. And several in my building as well.
In my building there is Charcoal, a shih tzu mix, Butters who is a pretty little gold/cocker mix, Ozzy who is a chow pit mix and a big sweat heart.. and a few others. A chi mix who is quite mean snaps at every thing. Some litle yappy poodles..x.x. Dorry who is a pug mix of some kind.

Out side of my building there are two yappy palms right next door. A beautiful black lab named Phantom who needs to be neutered since he slips his collar all the time and roams the neighborhood looking for a good time. There is a singing golden retriever. There are a few more, but I cant recall them off the top of my head right now.

Good topic!

I live in a very doggy neighborhood. There are some toy breeds in a few houses, but most of the homes have large mixed breed dogs and more than one. We only have one person who doesn't take the best care of their dogs. They have a beagle who is always outside alone, barking and then finally escaping. We live right off a 6 lane highway and many times we've had to rescue him. So, they get him a "friend" - a large, barky border collie mix who also escapes. Now we've got TWO dogs to rescue! They've had several dogs die in the past of HW yet still don't have these dogs on preventative. It's sad, but also annoying to see them running around the neighborhood or hear them at all hours of the night. Other than that, lots of big dogs who don't like strangers in their yard. The crime rate in this neighborhood is nil!! lol

For some reason, everyone around here has either a lab or a boxer (myself included :D ). There are a few people that chose not to follow the norm...in our direct neighboorhood we have a bull mastiff, 2 german shepherds, a weimaraner, a golden, and a yorkie, and 3 mixed breeds. :)

What kind of dogs live near you? Do you see a lot of dogs that look like they live in bad circumstances (chained, etc.) when you walk around the neighborhood with your dogs?
A few Rottweilers, lots of mini foxies and Staffordshire Bull Terriers. A couple of Shelties, a wire haired Fox Terrier, a few Jack Russell Terriers and Pugs. Two West Highland White terriers live just a few doors down, I've also seen quite a few Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and there are a lot of maltese, Shih Tzu and mutts.

I've never seen any living in bad conditions, but there are about half a dozen who roam. All are friendly to people however (thankfully).

Cass.

EDIT: I just had to correct myself. I do remember speaking to a woman when my own dog went missing for a short period of time who had a Maltese that was tethered to a line under her carport because she didn't have a fenced yard. To me that's just unbelievably cruel. Especially since this poor dog had already been attacked by one of the roaming dogs some time ago. Surely fencing off the carport would have been better as a temporary run? Anyway, that's the only one I recall.

A little gray poodle that walks by our house everyday.

A mix that lives a few houses down.

And 3 mixes.. 2 of them belonging to one owner and the other one owned by another... they're out walking every so often.

Hmm... Sheba, the next door there is some kind of fluffy black female that Yami loves to run along the fence and play with. Shes looks like some kind of border collie mix.

On the other side, there used to be a beautiful pitbull named taco, but he recently passed of cancer, now theres a little pitbull puppy, female. The owner is a older man, responsible =)

Across the street there is Meisha. Shes a pit bull, My aunts the owner. Shes Yamis girlfriend. They LOVE playing together. But they cant play too long because Meisha has a heart problem.

Theres a beautiful golden retreiver down the back of my house by an ally. Yami looks at him sometimes lol.

Samson is a grey and black spotted great dane. Yami doesnt really like samson too much though. There used to be two Great danes, but his girlfreind left him and took his dog. She a was Harliquin and her name was Crystal. Yami never met her.

At the end of my street there is a Young St. Bernard. A puppy. I dont know her name.

A little farther there are 2 Min pins, Yappy little things. On in each yard on either side of the street. Needless to say we try not to walk on that street because they drive Yami mad.

And theres also an old Beagle named buddy. Hes mean. =(

<3 Theres probably more, I just cant think!

We don't have a large problem with bad dogs, or those that are chained. Every dog I've met around the neighbourhood has been very well behaved and on the off occasion that they were testy, the owners were able to handle it.

2 black labs
Bichon Frise
An Old English Sheep dog mix?
Shih Tzu
Pug
2 Goldens (not including Emma)
Lab
Border Collie
Standard Poodle

I think may be forgetting some...

2 boxers up the street from us (very gorgeous both fawn and cropped)

a beagle/poodle looking dog and a maltese mix

My aunt & uncle two doors down have a mix, Nikki. A fat little girl they got at the shelter.

Across the street there's two little pugs - Oliver and... I forget the other one's name. Oliver is dog-agressive and bites his little playmate if he sees another dog and can't get to him... poor things. x_x We try not to draw too much attention to ourselves if they're out.

Then there's a small dog several houses down on the next street over. He sits in the backyard often. It's yappy and annoying.

Nearly to the end of the street is Boomer, a schnauzer. He's not much for Auggie. He's kind of a nice old man, a settled doggie... Auggie's puppy temperment doesn't work very well for him.

At the very end of the street there are two dobes, the sweetest and most amazingly behaved dogs I have ever seen in my life. They will come charging at full speed down to see you in the street - but they never let even one paw leave the grass. They like frisbee.

Down to the left, there's a girl that just got... I think a pug puppy? I'm not sure what it is. I see her out in the yard with it on a leash trying to make it potty (ahh, brings back memories!) every now and again though.
Across from them is a big black doggy, not sure what he is or if he's a mix. Don't see him out very often.
There's a husky two blocks down...

...I think that's it. There aren't really very many dogs around here. =/

My neighborhood has 2 APBT's per house on either side of me.
The people behind me have a beagle/basset (not sure which, never got a great look but that AROOOOOOOOOOO all night) and some Dachshunds and other small dogs. The other one behind me has some white fluffy barky things.

Then the 5th person has 2 GSD's, but I haven't seen them in a long time :(

Oh and ETA, there's 2 corgi's up the road that bark at me all the time :)

Let's see-
neighbors left side have: a deaf, white pit bull with a broken leg that never healed right. He's a rescue. They also have a boston terrier puppy who is EXTREMELY cute!!!!
Neighbors right side have: a sheltie that barks constantly and is always outside.
Neighbors in the back have some kind of black lab mix that's pretty crazy and I'm pretty sure killed their other dog, b/c the other dog just disapeared one day and those two dogs used to fight all the time
Other neighborhood dogs: two random furry faced terrier mixes that are always barking and outside, another black lab/collie mix, a basset hound, a britney spaniel, and that's all I can think off of the top of my head.
Oh, someone does own a red show doberman, b/c I saw them getting ready for a nearby show one morning, but they don't speak
