People whose dogs sleep in their bed with them... do you have a special kind of comforter on your bed that doesn't get totally ruined with dog? We've had our comforter for about a year and a half and it doesn't look good anymore at all. Of course we made the mistake of getting a cream colored one and we should've gone darker but I would've liked for it to remained a nice for a while longer. Even after I wash it, it still looks dirty. And my dogs really aren't very dirty.

I was just wondering if there was maybe a special one that's... dog repellent. Well, not repellent, because I want them there, but you know what I mean ;) Super duper easy to clean.

Hmm, I've never had an issue with any type I've used. I've had down comforters, corduroy, velour type material, but I tend to choose red, brown, and other dark colors

I've never had an issue with the comforter getting dirty. Heck, mine's not even really washable. Microfiber's supposed to be awesome at staying clean though. I know it is on our couches. Everything wipes off of them!

I use a down comforter with washable duvets :) Have for years.
Same here. I can't imagine using a comforter without a duvet.

I suppose if your dog peed you'd be up the creek unless you put a waterproof duvet on under the fabric duvet.

Nope. Just wash it in a mild detergent and dry it on medium with two or three clean tennis balls :) I've even washed feather beds that way (but in the commercial washers and dryers at the laundromat).

Our comforter is a dark brown color with great big circles and spots all over to create a 'textured' look, LOL, if it's stained or anything, I can't tell! haha

I do like the microfiber idea though *makes mental note for the future*

I have a down alternative comforter. It still looks great after a year. I also have another regular cheap comforter (the whole set - sheets, pillow cases, the comforter, a pillow, and a pop-up hamper - was on sale at Dillon's for $15) that still looks fine after 2 years. It's actually in Gavroche's crate right now, but I would totally wash it and use it if it wasn't so light weight. I like heavy blankets, so until I can get a weighted blanket the down alternative will have to do.

I cannot STAND the texture of microfiber. Ewwwwww *chills*

We got our comforter from Ross. For like 25 bucks. Ozzy's eaten the foot of it (when he was a puppy) and it's still lasted almost five years. I'm getting a new NICE one (still dark colored :p) for christmas and then this one will be retired to a dog blanket.

I too cannot stand microfiber on my hands. I can sleep with a blanket one, but I hate the feeling on my hands.

I have a down comforter and use duvet covers, too. But I still don't want Bailey on them. (I spend a lot of money on bedding.) So I usually throw a quilt over the bedding when he wants to get on the bed.

WC, how about something like this: dogproof | Orvis? Bailey has a couple of Orvis dog blankets and they've held up pretty well through repeated washings.

I have a down alternative comforter that we put duvet covers over. We've had it for... 3 years? And it's held up really, really well.

I'm a bedding germ freak. When we use comforters they get washed weekly. And it says a LOT that this comforter has lasted this long!

I also have a quilt which is lighter... I bought it from Kohl's and it is brown and red.

Over the summer I generally sleep with just a sheet or an afghan blanket. I get really hot at night and can't stand having a heavy comforter on me.
