Walker a prong or a leather buckle spike that I got for 10 bucks in a clearance bin
Sci is ALWAYS in a martingale
Layla has a no pull harness and a regular nylon snap collar. We are currently working on her pulling but we dont walk here so no time to train that will change with the move though.

ALWAYS leather with buckles. They last the longest, don't smell, stay the cleanest, and are the most secure by far. :) I also get nylon martingales (no chain) with no buckle or snap for their getting dirty/swimming collars.

I have waaaay too many collars  And most the time, she's nekkid LOL

Maddie is really gentle with her collars and toys, and never slips or breaks them, so I don't have to worry about any of that. Which is part of the problem :rofl1:
I have a really really nice ella's leather collar... but she only wears that when I know she's not going to jump in a puddle or a swimming hole or something :p

Mostly I use snap collars... because they come in soo many designs, collars, fabric.
I've been using Morgan Collars the most, because we're trying these plastic coated D rings because Maddie's skin has been sensitive (to the metals?).
Also, I love these Classy Critter Collars... For the Well Loved Pet! , she lets me order without a D ring at all :D

Only martingales for Auggie. I used to walk him in a harness until I came to trust the martingale. Unfortunately unless I fork over $30 or so for a collar online, they don't really come in cute patterns. It doesn't really matter anyway since you can't see his collar, but *I* know what's under there... LOL...

The other option is to learn to make collars myself which I have considered but I haven't found any fabric in town that I like enough (I also can't find the hardware in town - I think I'll have to order some.) I'm always on the hunt for cute sheep fabrics or exceptional punk rock fabrics for my first attempt though...

Collarmania.com has a pretty cute sheep fabric. Let me see if I can find the fabric on her site:

^^^^
DAAAAHHHHVVVV it has a black sheep! HOW CUTE!

A collar made by her with that fabric can be found here:

I like the look of a leather buckle collar, so with my first dog, once she graduated from a nylon "puppy" collar, I got her a leather buckle. My second dog kept his nylon snap for forever, and I couldn't find a leather buckle that I liked for him. A friend ending up buying him a Silverfoot snap collar, and I really like it.

Snap buckle collars for Bailey since he goes to daycare on weekdays. His are almost exclusively from Collar Mania, though I just bought him a Planet Dog hemp collar with fleece lining (not as pretty but hopefully more comfortable since he has to wear it so much).

He doesn't slip his collar, and if he did, he wouldn't go anywhere anyway, lol. I did get a martingale collar (also from CM) because I wanted to try one, but I probably won't get another as he doesn't really need it.

She has several fabrics I like, but I don't really want to pay $30 for a collar that you pretty much can't see anyway... which is why I'm trying to find some fabrics locally so I can try my hand at making a martingale myself.

I love these:

I've had two of them for about ten years and they're still in great shape. Sadly, they seem to be almost impossible to find now, limited sizes and colors. I don't know if maybe they're no longer being made, although they are still on the manufacturers website.

But petsmart has a collar very similar, so when I'm ready to buy a new one, I'll try theirs.
