Mine has taught me:

You can choose to be happy even in the worst circumstances

There is no such thing as too much love, affection or praise

Forgiveness is the best gift you can give

There's no such thing as an indestructible toy :D

Lizzie has tought me so much it would be impossible to list them all here. But she's also tought me so much about dogs.

Let's just say, I wouldn't be near the same person I am now if I didn't have her. :D

I think she's also taught me to be more selfless. My husband and I don't have kids, so I never had to make the sacrifices one makes when they have children. Well, after two weeks of getting up at midnight to let Zoe out when we were house training her, or picking up after her when she chewed through things, and rushing her to the vet after she ate a chicken- I have had to put her before me many times. And I like it.

The thing is, you learn to enjoy taking care of them like that. :)

My first dog taught me about PATIENCE, LOL.........and Orson has even stretched that lesson farther ;)

True unconditional love is probably the most valuable lesson that any pet has ever taught me. No matter what the situation is, they look at you with love :)

Blondie has taught me to love, no matter what. To be fiercely loyal and patient with the ones you love, flaws and all. To be optimistic and playful, even if you're very sick and in pain. I love his innocence and honesty: there's no more sincere being than my dogs.

Charlotte taught me inconditional love, too. She always tried to please me, no matter how much pain she was in. If she could, she would have smiled at me every time, but instead she used her little docked tail.

Christie has tried to teach me how to bite.... hasn't succeeded yet ;)

Max taught me how to care for another being, he is the one and only reason I began to love animals which are now one of the most important parts of my life.

He taught me selflessness, he has needs to and they are not any less important than mine.

He taught me how to sleep in a twin bed with a 65 pound dog sprawled out beside me and enjoy it more than sleeping alone.

He taught me that there is no use in staying mad at somebody when they don't know what they heck they did but would really like to make it better by sleeping on your lap (which they are too big for) or licking your face to make you laugh.

He taught me what passion was, a passion for dogs is something I will have until the day I die.

He taught me what unconditional love is, he had it for me and I for him.

Unfortunately he has also taught me that you can be lonely in a room full of people, and what REAL pain is. He made me have a worst day of my life, a day I will never forget no matter how hard I try. I miss my sweet baby boy, I wish he had had time to teach me the rest he had to offer.

My dogs have taught me so much.........just like any family member does.
But I have learned to never under estimate them or myself. That nothing is impossible and that if you work hard enough and always look to improve skills/training that everything in the end will work out............and if it doens't I MAY be the only one to care and that I shouldn't. My dogs don't care about NQ's, OC's or missed trials etc They just care about being with me and having fun. And that is the most important lesson.

No matter how busy or confused or tense things get, you still should make time for fun.

If your dog growls at your date, it's a guarantee that you are hooked up with a real jerk for the evening.

Falling in the mud can actually be fun.

White hairs land in black coffee and black hairs land in coffee with cream.

No matter how bad your day was, somebody at home is going to be really glad to see you.

Being a leader comes with much responsibility.

What you say doesn't matter as much as how you make somebody feel when you are saying it.

....and most importantly...

Never leave home without a roll of masking tape.

If you love somebody...let them know!

If you want something...go for it!

And, most importantly,

Nothing is impossible.

The dogs from my childhood instilled in me a passion that will last me the rest of my life.

Daisy has taught me to never leave any item which closely resembles food in the same county.

The other day, I had made a cocktail. I left it on the kitchen counter, and ran outside to pick some mint for some Thai food I was making. I came in, half my cocktail was gone and substituted with foamy slobber, with dribbles all down the cabinets and on the floor. I give you ONE guess who did it. Today I went to the bathroom. Within 10 seconds I hear my tea glass being knocked over, and come out to ice and tea all over the table and carpet. I give you ONE guess who did it. I'm learning. I really am.

OC has taught that no matter how bad, how ugly, how awful things get, there is always something to smile about and always a way to make the most of it.

Ronan has taught me that it aint worth it to stress!

All of my dogs and clients dogs have taught me that if I remember to be as affectionate and as patient with my kids, as I am my pups, we certainly get along better!!
