My mom thinks that I spend too much time on the computer. I do spent a lot of time just looking through message boards and whatnot, but what else is there to do? I do all my homework and when I get home, it's usually dark out, so I can't do anything outside. My mom said I was "wasting my time and wasting my life." I found that rather upsetting, but what else is there to do? I'm not interested in reading, and I don't like going out on weeknights. Any suggestions?

The computer is addictive.

It is easy to sit here hour after hour.

You have to go out!

Go for a walk,
read a book,
bake some food,
paint a picture,
listen to some music,
make some clothes,
sew,
knit,
try photography,
swim,
go to the gym,
learn to play an instrument,
help your parents,
do some gardening,
make a pond,
keep fish,
go horse riding,
bath the dog,
bird watch in your back garden/street
join a club - drama, youth club, whatever!
organise a charity event (you could do this in your evenings),
do some puzzles - crossword, jigsaw..
rearrange your room
just sit and look at clouds
learn some magic tricks
learn to juggle/poi/staff

Any more suggestions?

;)

I spend a lot of time on the computer too, and if we didn't have a computer, I'd be watching tv LOL. Good thing I have Charlie to get me outside exercising lol, otherwise I'd probably be lazy and over-weight. :p

Heh. I get the same thing during the summers, when I basically do little more during the day than work out indoors, swim, play with the dogs (indoors of course) and sit at the computer - but there isn't a whole lot to do when it's 110 degrees outside and the sun makes your skin blister after five minutes of direct contact. Yeees, my parents are brilliant. Let's move to the desert, they said. The warm climate is so lovely, they said.

Dizzy has some good suggestions. Or, if you don't really want to do anything else, just use the excuse that message boards ARE rather educational.. usually.

I think of growing up without my comp and can't remember what I did:p I think if I would have had a computer growing up I never would have liked animals so much. I spent most of my time chasing them around or trying to convince my mom to get more:)
