Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on something to deodorize an 8 week old puppy with? Like a spray.. I see Petco and Petsmart have sprays that smell good but are they good for the puppys coat?

My mother smokes like a chimney and the puppy smells like smoke.. WE've asked her to stop smoking around the puppy but shes more stubborn then the puppy herself..

LOL!! :)

smoking around dogs is as bad as smoking round kids if you ask me so i would say to try to keep the dog out of a smokey room and in the fresh air.

1) Your mom should quit smoking. Immediately.

2) http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2002/07/020730075305.htm Passive smoke doubles the risk of cancer in cats, I don't see why it should be any different for dogs.

3) Buy a HEPA air purifier.

4) Spraying your dog with something or constantly washing her isn't going to be great for her coat. Living in a smokey environment probably isn't so great for the dog's coat, either. Instead of putting a band-aid on the situation, stop the problem. (i.e., no more smoking around the dog or in the house for your mom)

5) Why "LOL"? This isn't funny at all. It's terrible. I would even suggest re-homing the dog if your mom can't control her addiction. Sorry, that's harsh, but why should the dog have to live like that?

I have some coat spray that I spray on in between baths. It's conditioning/deodorizing and my dogs coats seem okay. Smokes a hard one to cover up though..

Shevelle,
Obviously you have no control over your mothers habits!
So just try to get some fresh air for that pup. :)

And you can talk with her about smoking outside...... But instead of using concerning words for the pup....Use the concern for yourself, and tell her your clothes and hair smell of smoke, and tell her it is really hard for you to breath when in the house. Maybe that will help wake her up... and any positive outcome would be good for the pup too.
