Poodle
Maltese
Lhasa Apso
Shih Tzu
Yorkie
many more...

*if you're looking for a shelter dog, any combination of the non shedding breeds would be fine as well*

Airedales come to mind first for big dogs.
I love when they come in for a groom at work.

for a small dog I would say a poodle..

although every single dog that walks through my works door sheds.. no matter what breed.

everytime a comb goes through their hair, some hair comes out ;)

Seriously? I always assumed 2 non shedders would only produce more non shedders.. I've never heard that before.

Thats actually not true. When you mix two dogs with the same traits like a shih tzu and a poddle for example many times you actually do get shedding dogs.
I've never seen that be the case. All of my dogs are mixes and come from non shedding or low shedding backgrounds and I never have had a problem. They shed minimally if any. Also if the dog is from a shelter it will most likely have blown it's puppy coat and will have it's true coat in place.. so the person would be able to see what it's like.

How could that be? Poodle and Shih Tzu's are both non shedding breeds, so how could the dog come out non-shedding.

Now if you mix a lab with a poodle, what some people call labradoodles, you may end up with a lab coat, in which case it would shed.

I have a lhasa/cairn terrier mix. He doesn't shed. He is a rescue.

I will try and find an article. From what I understand when you take a mix with the exact same traits and breed them the genetics don't always match up to a non shedding breed. Sort of like a crash of the opposites? Like I said I will try and find some articles, but you are right its so hard to prove this without any good research done in this area.

From what I understand, crossbreeding non shedding dogs together will not necessarily produce non shedding pups.

As a matter of fact, I looked after a lady's poodle shih tzu mix and it shed more than my pomeranians.
