Who is PD? I cannot figure that out. Lol.

I would get a koolie if they existed more in the US. Obviously Linds just needs to get on that cloning Traveler business. I just don't even know where to start looking since Richie is retiring.

I keep wavering between BC, BC x mix (Staffy or terrier), ACD (rescue probably because I like tiny and light builds), or a pyrshep. Same old same old.

Once I have more dog training experience, I would TOTALLY get a Koolie if they were more prevalent in the U.S. They sound awesome, and we're a super active family so I think I could keep one busy.

I have to admit, I recently met a Koolie at an agility trial (not competing, but in training) and...I kind of liked him. The warnings about all the barking really turned me off the breed, but I really liked the general temperament he showed, and he was certainly a good looking dog - although a bit bigger than I particularly like. I'm interested to continue to see him as he grows up and starts competing. I'd probably still seek out a BC (and just keep my fingers crossed for minimal coat), but he certainly piqued my interest in a way it hasn't been by the breed in several years.

The breed of our next dog is currently being discussed. :p #1 on the list is a koolie, but I don't know if/how that will happen. Other than that me and my husband have completely different ideas on what we want from a dog. He likes more "cat-like" breeds, were i like my clingy herders with the "I loves my people, I do anything for you!" kind of attitude lol :p

At this point the only things we can agree on are:
1. MUST be a puppy. This one is a Talon related issue. He is much more accepting of dogs that grow up as a puppy with him. I feel like he could accept an adult dog, but it would be a lot harder and more work. It's still a possibility if we found the perfect dog, just a lot less likely.

2. It's going to be female. We have two males, a female would be a big preference at this point. Again, Talon could get along with a male, but we both feel we'd have more potential for issues. He seems to prefer his girls over all :p

3. Friendly! This one is our number one goal. After Art who is just neurotic (reactive to new people/dogs/objects -_-) and Talon with his mild dog reactivity, we just want a go everywhere type dog. They are both doing really well with both issues, but we want to sway the outcome in our favor as much as possible by having friendly parents and breeds less predisposed to aggression/reactivity. Of course along with a lot of appropriate socialization and training.

So yeah, breed is up in the air at this point. We are researching ^_^ At this point, whatever breed we chose I just want to have a good plan in place for socialization and have a trainer we are familiar with before we get the puppy.
Whippet. No seriously, fulfills your husband's "cat-like" requirement in a lot of ways (that's why I'm getting one!), but pretty biddable and sporty compared to some other pseudo-cat breeds. They're not gonna hang on your every word like a herder but they're pretty cuddly and Velcro for their type. And an aggressive or reactive whippet is an oddity...

Just sayin' ;)

I love Border Collies but don't want another as big as my two (23" to shoulder 16-120kg)

My old girl is getting on 14yo and going blind and back end going so I don't know how much longer I'll have with her. It would be too tempting to get another female dog that looked like a smaller version of her, but I have another dog to consider. I don't want him to be unhappy or get one that he doesn't like, so I'd have to take him to a rescue to meet some and basically let him choose! ..so we could end up with anything..lo!!

I'd probably shortlist a few by telling them I want a dog somewhere between 10-15", up to 12kg, nothing too tiny or fragile...roughly between JRT to cavalier size, (would take a dinky staffy) but I'm not really bothered what cross it was exactly, or whether it male or female as long as they got on!

I am kind of feeling like it will be a crazy long time until I can think about another dog...my hands are pretty full with Yarrow and Onyx since they are both extremely high needs in their own way. Plus the new boyfriend has two dogs as well, so we have 4 in the house, which feels like a lot!

I can dream though - I don't know if I can see myself wanting to stray from a nice Malinois or Dutch Shepherd, although I would definitely try to find a very specific temperament. I could do without some of Onyx's less desirable traits!

I'm also drawn to ACDs and stumpy tail cattle dogs, though I've never met a stumpy. I way prefer lighter builds, so I find that attractive in the stumpies.

I'm trying to think of breeds that suit both what I like and what my boyfriend likes in a dog. Koolies would be another possible option.

I'm pretty stuck on my Amstaffs. Rhys is hands down my favorite dog I've ever owned.

If I strayed from that, I have contemplated the idea of a Mal. I feel crazy even acknowledging it lol.
