What do you think he is mixed with?

Well, I have been visiting a lot of shelters for my next dog and I saw this boy online and I just HAD to go meet him. He was only like, an hour and a half away. So I went to go meet him

Anyway. What do you think he is mixed with..? I see the rottie in him. but where do you think the merle is coming from..? Oh, and this boy has a HUGE head. My god.. He is also a sweetheart. I am going back to see him this week so I can see if he gets along with my Chloe.

Also, I had a connection with this girl. She was a bit timid, but sooo sweet once she came around! It was as if she was trying to crawl into my lap, except there was a cage door in her way. Her really only negative is that she was OBSESSED with my guy friend! Absolutely fixated on him. When he walked away from her cage, she'd bark her head off for him to come back. :rofl1: Too bad he is a loyal GSD fan.

I am guessing she is a rottie x lab mix? What do you think. She has rottie markings, except they are brindled. Her tail is also docked.. Those pictures do NOT do her justice.

My guess would be Rottie X Catahoula for the first guy, and Rottie X Plott Hound for the lady.

Is it merle or scaring? It's hard to tell in the pics. Except for that, I really only see Rott in him. Now, mind you, I'm not talking about well bred, obviously. He really does look like a sweetie.

I'd guess either that or not so well bred Rott.

It definitely looked like merle in person. I see what you mean though. In some of the pictures he does look almost all black. In person you can see more of the greyish/blue.

The first one I'd say is a rottie - pet line where someone forgot to do the tail. The second I'd say is labxrott

The first dog has a blue merle coat....I don't know a ton about the merle mutation but I would think that would be a pretty good indicator the dog wasn't full Rottie...

Are we seeing the same dog? First dog is black and tan with slightly too much flash by the photographer and a white strip on the chest.

No.. I saw him in person. But if you check out the last picture. You can clearly see the markings.

Yup. I see the Merle on him Kind of an APBT look to the mouth and eye set -- I don't understand enough about the genetics of coat coloration to do anything more than speculate that maybe daddy was something like a Catahoula Bulldog.

Yeah, I could see something Rottie and Catahoula in the first one. But that dog is defiantly a blue merle

Its probably your computer monitors that make the dog look black. I see Rottie/Catahoula like everyone else.

There are a lot of breeders selling "merle APBTs" lately, and most of them have jumped on the oversized Bully movement. This guy looks a lot like some of those dogs.

I see catahoula and bully in the boy. In the girl, I only see Rottweiler.
