Hey all,

I know intermediate Obedience is basically distance, duration and distraction but I want to know if there are others things you can teach. I was thinking about teaching the dogs not to walk in the street unless the owner oks it, maybe work on sitting while running in response to recalls, hand signals from a distance etc.

I work at Petsmart, am new and broached the topic of setting up an intermediate with my Area Pet Trainer who is "The boss" basically of training in the store. She teaches very differently than I do. She stated she would have to watch me train because "Just because you can teach puppy and beginner doesn't mean you can train intermediate." I find that funny because when she was out on disablilty and family emergencies I trained her advance class just fine. It was my first month there and due to a shoulder injury she had been out a lot and I offered to cover her classes and my manager said yes. She knows I did this too and that it went well.

At any rate, I teach using the clicker, she does not. My classes since they are small and the pet parents are dedicated to the dogs are speeding along just fine with what I am teaching so I want to give them a few challenges when I teach intermediate.

Any ideas?
