What do you LOVE and HATE about your dog?

Does your dog have any habits or characteristicts that you just hate? What about things that you love?

Things I hate.

Reggin has horrible seperation anxiety that drives me nuts. He cant be tied out in the yard for no more than 5 minures before he starts making this high pitched screachig and crying. When we leave the house he yelps and yelps.

He is not DA, but he gets out of control when he sees another dog. Not aggression, but wanting to run over there out of curiosity, FRANTICALLY. It turns into aggression when another dog is barking at him. He just goes nuts. He tries to pull out of his collar, yelps, barks, growls, and even lays down on the ground and throws a huge fit. Not fun.

The last thing I really dislike is that he is starting to become defensive of strangers coming up to him when he is crated. I'll go as far as to say that its aggression. Our landlord met him for the first time while he was in his crate. He growled and barked at her when she put her hands out. First time he has ever done that. When he is loose, he is a lover.

Things I love.

He loves people. He loves attention from people when we are out for walks. He cant get enough of it, and I love that about him.

He loves his family. He loves to give kisses and kuddle. He is amazing with my daughter.

He is very active. I enjoy going out to the beach, river, lake, camping, playing fetch, going for very long walks, and he is perfect for that. Never tiring easily. He can go on for days, and I love that.

Hate: They are still not 100% housetrained, so we have to watch them all the time. They're good in their crate, though. We just can't let them wander the house alone. They know to go when they are brought outside, but will also just pee in the kitchen if they are left unattended.

Ash feels the need to bark at the neighbors when he is outside, even though they (the neighbors) are ALWAYS outside and he should be used to seeing them by now

They both get into the cat litter. Anna is the worst. It's disgusting

Anna is not a huge fan of other dogs. At the dog park, she just stays at our feet. Ash will run and play, but she couldn't care less about the other dogs. When a new dog comes into our house, it takes a long time for her to warm up to them. It was the same way when I first brought Ash home, though they're best friends now.

Love: They're both sweet dogs. They love children and pretty much all people.

They're extremely well behaved for grooming, nail clipping, ear cleaning, teeth brushing, bathing, etc.

It's so cute to watch them playing together (and with the cats).

They ride in the car well.

They're well-behaved at the vet and groomer.

Anna snorts happily when you pet her and lets you hold her upside down like a baby and rub her belly.

Anna loves to show off her toys. If you walk in the door, she has to come up to you with a toy in her mouth, and she snorts when she's doing it. She adores squeaky toys.

They're pretty calm for still being so young--especially Anna. She was never much of a "puppy"

I hate that Pit is terrified of way too many things despite all the socialization and effort put into him.

I hate that any accident turns into a phobia. (ie, tripped on a cord once, it followed him a short way. Now he can't walk past any visible cords. He cries when I play videogames)

I love that he can learn new behaviours in a snap because he tries so freaking hard to get it right. He will offer endless behaviours until one of them gets treated and we can shape that into nearly anything.

I love that he really is sweet and WANTS to like people and dogs and I'm sure he would be an absolute gem if he wasn't plagued with his phobias.

The only thing I don't like about Dance is her tendency to shy away from new people, despite all the work I put into her, but it's not unmanageable anymore and she gets better all the time. Oh, and her incredibly sensitive stomach... but that's not her fault. Aside from those, she's perfect.

I love her little grin, the way she grumbles & "woo"s at me and only me, her ever so happy nature, the fact that she's willing to do anything for me & is super easy to train, how easy she goes from a couch potato to a bundle of energy (and vice verse) whenever appropriate, etc. She's such an easy, fun dog.

I hate the shedding.

I hate the fact I will most likely live to see all of them leave me.

I love everything else.

Agree Red .... knowing they'll leave is the hardest . With Ollie and me , it's 50/50 . I know I'd miss him more than he'd miss me .

+She LAYS in her own pee *sigh*
+Her lovely morning routine of barking and screaming

Things I love:
-Regis-
+Loving, affectionate, and very intelligent and eager to please.
+SUCH a lap dog and I love it
+He is a great watch dog in the times I've seen him do it
(list could go on and on)
-Kyrie-
+She's a big sweet goober
+She loves to play, but she loves sleeping on the floor vent even more LOL
+VERY kissy. More so than Regis sometimes

Daisy hates - I hate that she's fearful of people. I hate that I have to put her away so that she won't hurt new people coming in the house. I hate that's she's not cuddly, and I hate that she barks at stuff that isn't there with that deep booming bark that startles the crap out of me! Oh yeah and I hate how much she freaks out for nail trimming (vet prescribed me sedatives for next time); attempts to work with her on this fear have been unsuccessful.

Daisy likes - I like how responsive she is to training, I like how easy her coat is to care for, I like the rare times she stares intently at me because that's how she tells me she actually wants some attention, I like that she doesn't need tons and tons of exercise to tire her out, and I like that, besides the fear aggression, she is very well behaved.

Benji hates - I hate how much he barks to go outside when my mom is putting him out! I know he's excited, but BENJI SHUT UP already! :p I hate having to pay a groomer to groom him every so often, but his coat needs upkeep, and it is actually helping him tolerate clipping and scissoring better. I also hate that he hates having his legs and feet done, but we are working on that.

Benji likes - I like that he's cuddly without being clingy. I like his cute fuzzy face and cute little butt. I like how he does zoomies around the house, its so fun to watch! I like his playfulness and silly antics.

ETA: I forgot the like for both of them: I like that when I get home I'm greeted by smiling faces and wagging tails! I think that's one of the best things about owning pets is having something soooooooooooo very happy to see you when you get home from work!

Sawyer hates: the relentless control barking
Virgo hates: her food theivery and seperation anxiety

Sawyer loves: How darn smart, loving, cuddly and awesome he is
Virgo loves: the way she totally lights up when running through the woods or tall grasses and her ability to be uncannily clear on what she wants.

Zeus likes: He's sweet, loving, gentle, absolutely trustworthy with children and babies of all ages, well-behaved and handsome.
Zeus dislikes: His complete inability to have a solid recall. I've been trying for nearly 4 years now without success.

Voodoo likes: Smart, happy-go-lucky, playful, very gentle with people and children, and just an all-around good dog.
Voodoo dislikes: How friggin' LONG it took him to become a good dog! And all the trials, tribulations, and property damage he made us endure during that waiting period.

I can't think of anything I hate about Summer honestly. She has a couple very minor issues but there's nothing that is uncontrollable. (mild separation problems but nothing big at all...)

Though, I LOVE how balanced she is. She's good with anybody, very stable and very people-friendly. She's okay with other dogs, too, not big into playing but she's trustworthy around them. I also love that she has such a fantastic recall and is so oriented to me all the time. I love that she's very snuggly and soft. I love that she's the easiest dog to train I've ever had. I love that she's got long hair but not too long- it's so easy to keep up. I love that she is trim and fit and athletic and up for a good long walk or an agility session. I love how eager to please she is. I love how her markings are uneven- gives her character...

And most importantly, I love that she has the biggest ears on the planet. :D

Okay, so I'm a little smitten with my dog.

I love that Thomas is very trainable, I love that he is very even tempered, has no known phobias as of yet, responds well to my demeanor when faced with something new, and after my parent's two water-hating dogs, I love that he swims.

I hate that he regards his ears as two giant dirt scoops, and I hate that he can't go down stairs. I'm sure I'll find more in the future, but I know there'll always be more to love.

Things I Hate

I hate how she loves Rob so much. Yeah, I'm jealous. I'm the one who has spent countless hours for the past 3 years with her, and she won't even sit on my lap when he's around. Stupid, I know...

I hate how she is so independent. She knows MANY tricks and commands. Will she do them? Maybe, if there's food involved.

I hate the fact that someday, she will no longer be here with me. I get teary-eyed just at the thought. If I could clone her so I could keep her forever, I would.

Things I Love
No matter how I'm feeling, if I'm upset or moody, she can just nudge me to cuddle and it'll all be ok.

The way she looks at me. I can see that she loves me more than life itself.

The way she "talks" to me. Yes, my dog and I have daily conversations about how chunky she is and how chasing the neighbor's cat is NOT cool.

I could seriously go on all day, so I just listed three each.

I have 3 dogs and I love them all. I love it when they listen to me, when I am telling my stories. You might think I'm crazy, but it's true. When I have problems, I tell my dogs about it. I know they're all listening. They're my best friends.

Hate: When they bark at my boyfriend every time they see him. Just can't imagine why, when they've seen my boyfriend for almost 6 years now.

I don't really *hate* anything about my dogs, but I definatly dislike somethings!

Dislikes

Keeda
-The way she greets people(normally not a bad thing, but around here people want nothing to do with your dogs... and she get really excited when she meets new people).
-She's too smart for her own good.
-When she's a certain distance from me, she *pretends* she can't hear me.. yeah right! I see her ears move at my call! I know she's just ignoring me!

Bailey
-When he lays in the hallway, I try to walk over him so he doesn't have to move, so he'll wait until your right over him and then suddenly jump up and hit you in the groin... but he doesn't jump up every time... he likes to keep you on your toes!
-How shy he is around other dogs. I feel bad for him, that makes him get picked on more...
-How sickly he is, but that's not his fault.

Loves

Keeda
-How uber cuddly she is!
-How car travel savy she is!
-She just has an awesome overall personality.
-Her.

Bailey
-How he sticks to my side like glue.
-When he lays down he groans like an old man! It's SOOO funny!
-How sweet and gentle he is.
-Everything about him really!

I delayed answering.. I do not have a hate... I can not think of one..
What I love is their devotion, their gentle nature, their calmness and even yes- silliness...
If I had to have a " hate" it would be femkas health. We are constantly worried about it.. But that is not her- its what she is... But we both love her dearly. Its been a new frontier learning things I never worried about before. I never heard of crashing thyroids prior to femka.. I never heard of dormant meningitus prior to femka. But my baby is my love as well as the others I have had... And with each dog comes a new experience..

Hate
Ozzy
- I HATE that he cannot control his barking. Seriously SHUT UP!
- I hate that he has such a controlling personality. I'M PLAYING WITH HER NOW, LEAVE ME ALONE!
- I hate how he digs the covers up in the morning despite my best efforts to teach him to get on the bed and quietly cuddle. He's not allowed on the bed anymore.
- He won't shut up in the car. When we get close to wherever we are going, he starts whining and barking. It is very annoying.

Jett
- I hate that she barks at new cars. She isn't barking at people, but new cars in the driveway terrify her for some reason.
- She let's Ozzy walk all over her, taking her toys, her food, her water, her bed, everything, unless I'm on top of Oz telling him not to.
- Must she bark at EVERYONE she knows?! I could understand strangers, but people you know?! Come ON.
- Her fur is everywhere. I've woken up with her hair in my mouth too many times to count.

Love

Ozzy
- He is the ultimate dog for activities that don't involve tennis balls or sticks. He can go forever and be happy doing it.
- He is perfectly reliable offleash now, and I can recall him off of SQUIRRELS!
- He loves everyone (people) and is ALWAYS happy to see someone new.
- He is a cuddle bug most of the time, and is always happy to be near me.

Jett
- She is reliable offleash. 100% and she doesn't chase squirrels, cats or birds.
- She is really really sweet. She just wants to be with me all the time. She isn't obsessed over anything, she doesn't bring you a tennis ball a bajillion times in a row.
- She rides extremely well in the car. She pretty much sleeps or looks out the window.
- She loves Steven, and she loves kids. She wants be petted, or loved on by all children.
- She is content to just sleep at my feet when I'm busy.
- I can take her anywhere. She doesn't have DA, she doesn't bark at people when we are out walking, she is a good dog to have out in public.
