Thought I'd start a thread on what we call stuff in our different regions. For instance, a "soda" here is generically called a "coke" or more generally "pop". Let's get a "pop"...

How about the potty room? Like if you're at a restaurant and need to ask where it is. Here it's "where's the ladies room?" or "where's the restroom?" I know in Europe it's either "toilet" or "watercloset"...

In France, to shower is to douche

I'll never forget a coworker of mine who went to France on business. The hotel person was showing her around her room and in the bathroom said "you might want to open this window when you douche". She was MORTIFIED!!! But later found out that meant to "shower" LOL...

What is 'soda'??
is it a fizzy drink like coke etc?
if it is then we just call it by whatever name it is, coke, pepsi, lemonade, etc
we dont call going to the toilet 'going to the bathroom' we just say going the toilet
if we said 'going the bathroom' that would mean to get a bath or shower

erm cant think of anymore right now lol

In Canada a pop is a pop. And pretty much anything goes for the toilet. I guess the 'bathroom' is the most common. Except we don't use 'water closet' :)

I know in the U.S. you use 'pacifier' (for babies) and we use 'soother.'

The UK uses 'bonnet' we use 'hood.' "Check under the bonnet/check under the hood.'

There's tons

What was really funny was when we were in England we were visiting a family and a guy there kept going on about all the different kinds of 'tits' he'd seen. My mom starting laughing until she was in tears and then ran to the 'bathroom' to hide. lol

It's a type of bird. The Great Tit and the Blue Tit.

Okay, funny 'bathroom' story. This happened to my Dad when he was young and working at the family sand and gravel plant on the Ohio River. A little background . . . at a sand and gravel plant there are HUGE piles of . . . SAND AND GRAVEL all over.

So . . . my Dad is sitting in the office working and these two guys come in. One of them looks pretty pained and says, "Man, where's your sandbox? This cat's got to s***!"

Of course, my Dad couldn't resist and pointed out the window at all the sandpiles . . . :D
