I was followed home by a dog yesterday after my run. The dog was very hot so I took her and and tried cooling her down. She seems to be very well trained. I posted signs last night and no calls. Not sure what I should do with her. I already have 4 dogs. I can not take another. I hate to take her to animal control. I have called tons of rescues but they are all full. I really feel this is someones house dog.

Can you hold on to her for a couple days? Know someone that can? Did you post signs in vet offices, let AC know?

And hi, by the way. It's been a long time since I've seen you around! :)

Yes it has been a long time. Alls been well with doggie issues. How did you all take the food recall? One of those times I said to myself good thing I have Innova. I am going to hold on to the dog for a couple of days. Today pretty much everything was closed so I am going to make some better signs and drop them off around the vets and shelters. Lovely dog. I wish my dogs acted this well. Hehehe. I did take her to the animal shelter but it was a very long wait and I didnt get a good feeling about it so I bailed.

I'm glad you'll be holding on to her for awhile. Hopefully her owners will show up quickly.

The recall was huge and we had a few of our Chaz dogs affected but all is well now. :) Take care and let us know how everything turns out. :)

I am going to have to figure something out today. My city law is 3 dogs I can have. This would be 4. Shelter also told me after 3 days the dog is legally mine. If I cant find the owners, what do I do? I have started calling rescue groups but they say they are all full. I would be willing to pay for shots and vet check. I just dont want to have to take her to the shelter.

I signed up at http://dogdetective.com to get email alerts of lost dogs in my area. You could check that out and list a "found" dog too. Anyone in your area that is signed up should get the alert. (I just received a local alert for a lost dog in my area... I was shocked since we live in a small town.)

I wouldn't worry about the 3 dog max if you are actively trying to find the owners. Even if someone notices chances are you will just get a warning at first.

Best of Luck,

I put the dog on petfinder classified ads and called all the shelters to see if anybody is missing a dog. Nothing yet.

Try finding a private rescue organization and ask them if they'll take the dog, or at least list it on their Petfinder page. You should be able to find a list of organizations on Petfinder. Make sure that they are:

-Non-Profit (preferably 501(c)3)
-No-Kill
-Foster-Based (Not a must, but preferable)

Oh and when putting up signs...make sure you put them at stop signs and stop lights so people will have a chance to stop and see them.
