Not the place to debate the ethics of docking and cropping, but I was curious.

I prefer a docked/ show cropped dobe over a natural or uncropped. I'd like to see a dobe that was only nicely cropped, not docked.

I prefer the vast majority of danes without a crop, but some look nice with it.

I don't really like most short, nubby crops, such as on a dogo, bully breeds, etc. I do find some dogs with them cute/handsome, but prefer ears.

Besides dobes, I don't dig docked tails, period.

I think I prefer pretty much every breed with natural ears and tails.

I wouldn't personally crop a dog - too much fuss and I don't prefer the look.

Since docking is done so young and I happen to really love some typically docked breeds, I don't have much choice. I would choose to leave tails natural if I could, but I prioritize other things when looking for breeders so I have to live with docked tails. I do think docked tails are cute (and they don't clear off a coffee table!), I just prefer natural tails.

Awwww....my dogs are now crying in the corner. You hate them. :(

I like docked dogs, I prefer them over tails.

I'm not a huge fan of crops in general. I have seen some nice ones though, but overall just not my thing.... Especially the really short ones.

I think the only breed I really like the looks of better with both a dock and a crop is a Doberman. They look too hound-y to me without.

I usually would prefer to have natural on most breeds though. Like one of my turnoffs for Aussies and MAS are their docked tail. :(

Lola, our cockapoo pup has a docked tail and I really wish she had her full tail.

I really dislike docking. I can't think of one breed I prefer docked.

As far as cropping goes, I like cropped dobes. Boxers and Great Danes I like both looks, and I prefer all others natural.

That said, I would never crop because I'm too lazy for the upkeep.

Cropped dogs I think look ridiculous cropped...makes them all look like their ears aren't meant for them, and to me throws the dog off lookwise, especially with bully breeds. Can't say there are any I find appealing cropped.

Docked dogs I think are fine to look at, but I couldn't care less as far as looks go with tails, but still would prefer a dog undocked if given the choice.

I do not care about tails AT ALL. I really don't notice them, so I don't have a preference at all. I don't think typically docked breeds look strange with tails and don't think the loss of a tail makes a big difference in how they look. We have a golden at work who had to have his tail amputated and I don't really think he looks any different. Tails just are not important to me.

As for crops, I used to prefer dobermans cropped (aesthetically) but after meeting a couple with ears they still look like dobermans, so I like them either way, but I do find certain dobermans really beautiful with a crop.

I don't think I'd be able to ID a beauceron without it being cropped. It's not so much that I think they look better with a crop it's just I think they look like a beauceron with a crop and a mixed breed without one. But of course that has to do with what I'm used to.

Most other breeds that I can think of I either don't care or prefer natural.

Pit bulls I can take either way, though it depends on the crop, I've seen plenty of crops that I hate (and not just hack jobs) and plenty I think look great. Same with most mastiff types that are cropped, like cane corso.

I do not like cropped Boxers, schnauzers or great danes.

I think dobes are the only ones I really think look better cropped/docked. The rest, seem to pull off both [natural or cropped/docked] nicely.

I think the only dog I actually prefer cropped are Dobermans. I think their ears are just too big for their head otherwise. Lol If I ever owned a Dobe, I'd crop it, even though I'd hate the upkeep of it.

Boxers, AmStaffs, Schnauzers, Great Danes...I prefer them natural. It's just the Dobes!

As for tails, I'm fine either way. I prefer docked in a lot of breeds, but wouldn't be upset if they weren't, if that makes sense. I think the only breed I'd specifically seek out a docked puppy in would be a Boxer - because can you say Happy Tail? But I'm certainly not opposed to buying a docked dog, or natural dog. Whichever.

I love tails, I can't think of any breed I "prefer" docked.

As for crops, there are definitely some I enjoy the aesthetic of, but not to the point I find it necessary. I think if cropping and docking were banned in the US, we would all just get used to the uncropped/undocked look. Also since some are being bred for natural bob tails in the UK, I think eventually it would end up part of the look... the ears I don't think you can do much about without breeding in different breeds and such, and good luck with that happening. =P

As for non-surgical alterations, big prick ears on a sheltie make me insane. Small prick ears, no big deal, but big bat ears like Happy had, OMG. I see these cute puppies with huge prick ears and I'm like GET THE TAPE GET THE GLUE WE CAN STILL FIX THAT. Happy would have been bloody adorable with properly set ears hahaha.

I don't really feel that passionate about docking or cropping and I actually joke that I like and prefer dogs without tails....6 out of the 7 dogs I've ever owned have been tail-less.

I like Crossbone's little nubbin of a tail. I think it's super cute on him and couldn't imagine him with a tail. His docked tail does lead me to believe that he was an intentional mix though. I also like Rat Terriers tails docked but prefer the longer dock like Pox vs. the really short nub.

Last week I accidentally saw a video on FB of puppies getting their tails docked, and I was traumatized. :yikes: So I changed my vote to none!

But it's practically impossible to get a cocker with a natural tail, so...yeah.... :(

I do think ears/tail changes a Dobes looks totally and that would be the only breed that comes to mind, really.

I love the traditional crop and dock on the Corso (1/3 tail, battle crop) and traditional crop on the CO and CS. other than that, i like the natural look better on every breed

When we got Watson, I realized neither DH nor I had ever owned a dog with a tail. I grew up with schnauzers, and he had a corgi and a brittany. But now I have tail envy and want a Welshie with a tail.

Gonna agree with the masses that I like cropped dobes. I'm not really a fan of crops on any other breed, and I'm not a fan of docks on any breed. I would love to have an aussie with a tail. Docks and crops have really just always seemed weird and pointless to me, but that's probably because I've never had anyone explain the reasoning behind it/why it originated and never been motivated to do research.

I need dobes cropped - otherwise I can't get over the weird B&T mix thing lol

Tails I'm not concerned about either way, except I actually like them on boxers lol but they're also on my NEVER CROPPED list.

My MUST CROP breeds are Dobes, Briards, Cane Corsos, giant schnauzers, beaucerons, bouviers, and probably more but I can't think of them currently.

I think Dobermans look better cropped :) I also like Schnauzers cropped, but to be fair, I only see pet Schnauzers here, so those with natural ears have huge, huge bat ears vs ears that have been glued down to look normal.

Brussels I don't mind either way, but I do think their teeny tiny crops are cute :)

I have no opinion on tails at all
