I know a lot of people ask this question but my husband, I and our fur babies will be looking to add another puppy in a year or so.

Just a small description of my dogs I have now:
Mijo- Boston mix
Very playful but very dominant play full. FULL of energy. He is also very reactive on leash,we are working VERY hard and diligent to overcome this it has been a long haul but completely worth it!

Roxy-Chihuahua mix
Very submissive, relaxed, easy going dog!

What we are looking for is large to ex-large dog preference would be a male. Very easy going, not to head strong, easy to fair learner.

Shedding, hair length, drooling does NOT matter!

We are a fairly active family walk 1-3 miles a day (except winter). We will be getting a house in a year or so so not quite sure on the size of yard. No children as of yet we do have children that visit.

Just a few of the breeds that I fell in love with I still need to research on them but I wanted to come here and get everyone's input on some or if you have suggestions on any others!

-Irish Wolfhound
-Saint Bernard
-Mastiff (not sure what kind yet)
-Golden ( I know it probably does not fit in large to ex-large but they are sweet)

Please any input you have on these or any others feel free to give me advice!

:hail: Thanks:hail: :D

I would say the Golden would suit you guys quite well. They are easy keepers (very adaptable to many different lifestyles), active, friendly, very easy to train and compatible with small dogs. Deffinately look for a good breeder though which can be hard to do considering how popular they are (lots of people just trying to make a buck).

I'd recommend holding off until the issues with your Boston are completely resolved though. If not, your puppy could end up picking up his bad habits then you would have two dog reactive dogs on your hands and one isnt goign to be as easy to control!

Well, if you are already interested in Saints, let me give you a nudge to the Saint side!! Wonderful, amazing dogs that drool alot! You said that you are ok with the drool factor, so I am going to assume that you are fully aware that everything in a Saint home will have drool on it at one time or another! They are easy to learn and willing to please. The most important factor with a Saint is finding a reputable breeders to ensure sound health and temperment. And Saints are wonderful with children! Another breed to consider would be a Leonberger.

Thanks oc spirit I was leaning towards a Golden or irish but my husband likes the mastiff and saint look. We will not be adding a puppy until we get the issues with Mijo under control! Thanks Again!

Saintgirl I know saints drool but never realized how much thanks for your input. I was raised with english springers they drool a just a little! Thank you!

I will research a ton in looking for a very reputable breeder for any dog we add to the fam. I would REALLY love to get into showing or agility!

Thanks again for all the advice so far!
