I blame joce.
We were both on a My Little Pony forum and I posted pictures of tiny baby Auggie, and she told me I should join over here. I lurked for a while, then joined.

A few years ago I joined a whole bunch of all-breed boards (as I wasn't happy anymore with the very first board I'd joined), in a search for the perfect one. It took me a little while to truly feel like I "fit" in Chaz (as with most things! I always take a bit to adjust, haha), and barely posted at all in the beginning, but I'm glad I stuck it out as this truly is one of the best boards ever.

I was searching dogs in class one day (way back in sophmore year YIKES!!!) We were thinking about getting a dog an i was searching new breeds since mt mom didnt want APBT. I lurked around for a few minutes before reading some of renee and I think it was zooms posts and I knew I found some people I could get along with and enjoy so I joined. I have since tried others but last there a few days then never go back. Chaz is home with the bickering brothers and sisters, the awesome parents, the annoying cousins all of it. Chaz was in fact the first person besides Josh to know I was pregnant. And the first to know she was born.

Smkie came up to me at the dog park and told me about this place, so I joined and just never left! Have made some amazing friends and learned more about dogs than I ever thought possible...and have learned that I'm still barely scratching the surface as far as what all else there is to learn.

:) I have noticed there are some of my fellow pony crazy people here!

I think I tell everyone I ever meet in real life,or online, that mentions a dog to come here-It really does have alot of information and that's sooo hard to find. Especially on some sites where you are not even allowed to bring up that breeding fluffy to wrinkles may not be a good idea.

I wanted to talk dog. So I joined. I joined a few others too, but I am not as much of a fan of breed specific forums. I like the variety of dogs and people here. Keeps things interesting.

I was 14 maybe (I'll have to check) and I liked to take those dog breed quizzes that find out what breeds are right for you, just for fun. I had done nearly all of them so I googles something along the lines of "breed for me" and instead of a quiz I found a post on Chaz. Then I started reading and learning and had to stay to learn everything I could. Then I started being able to teach and that felt great and now I love this place and everyone on it and will never ever leave. I can see in my future introducing you to my first dog, I can't wait!

I wanted a forum where I could think for myself, and not be moderated to the extent where I had to be scared to say what I fed my dog, how I groomed my dog, blah blah blah. I liked the closeness of the community here. When I joined, I wasn't treated like... a newbie, like other forums I've been a part of. I was treated equally, and I really felt "at home" here, so to speak.

Yoshi is my first dog that was just mine. All my familys dogs had been outside only. I was doing good until I got home one day and she had paint all over her face from eating it :O I joined to see what I should do and ended up staying.

I am new,
I was looking for a good place with training tips an tricks.
To Train my new puppy that my kids felt I needed. Because I had lost my 14 year old Fur Baby,Doing a search this was the first one I came too.
when I learned this was Started Because Of Chaz a Beloved Dog who had passed away. I cried alot of tears.Although People are so quick to answer any an all questions about Dogs.I think it is the greatest,

But truth of the matter is I am still grieving For My Rocky.
I don't know how to get passed the loss of this Dear sweet dog.The Pain is Like a Knife in my heart. It takes my Breath away.He was my Life ,My Best friend.I still reach out to see if he is breathing,I rush home to take him out.
I just don't think I am ready for Chaz. I still cry everyday,

Thank all of you from the bottom of my Heart

A friend recommended I try it so I could relax and rest when I had time on my hands. And I like to compare notes on different dogs and training tips.

Sooo what are the differences? (to totally thread jack lol)
There are differences. Of course I don't know how representative dog owners from this forum are for all dog owners. I have a better view at that for Dutch dog communities.

But overall from what I've read:
We walk our dogs more times a day and more offleash. But that is because you have bigger yards and more free-standing homes and we have more legal off-leash area's.
Less owners in the Netherlands let the dogs do their business in their yard, that's what walks are for, besides exercise.

Spaying/neutering is less common in the Netherlands, because the overpopulation problems are a lot smaller and only dogs that are too agressive to be rehomed are euthanised in shelters.
Female dogs in the Netherlands are more often spayed early (but not sooner then six months) because of health issues nowadays, and males are mostly neutered because of behavioral reasons when they are grown up, if it's necassery. But almost never for the reason to prevent unwanted litters.
There is a whole group there that's against spaying/neutering except when there are medical reasons. And there is a lot more emphasis on the downsides of s/n. I haven't come across that here.

More people in the Netherlands are against docking tales and ears.

There is also a difference in raw feeding. You are more relaxed about raw feeding, and also feed larger and harder bones.
On the Dutch dog communities there are also more discussions about which raw feeding guru to follow, percentages, feeding vegetables, etc.
On this forum people are really more relaxed about it.

And non-dog related:
You own bigger cars :rofl1:
