Sooo what are the differences? (to totally thread jack lol)
There are differences. Of course I don't know how representative dog owners from this forum are for all dog owners. I have a better view at that for Dutch dog communities.
But overall from what I've read:
We walk our dogs more times a day and more offleash. But that is because you have bigger yards and more free-standing homes and we have more legal off-leash area's.
Less owners in the Netherlands let the dogs do their business in their yard, that's what walks are for, besides exercise.
Spaying/neutering is less common in the Netherlands, because the overpopulation problems are a lot smaller and only dogs that are too agressive to be rehomed are euthanised in shelters.
Female dogs in the Netherlands are more often spayed early (but not sooner then six months) because of health issues nowadays, and males are mostly neutered because of behavioral reasons when they are grown up, if it's necassery. But almost never for the reason to prevent unwanted litters.
There is a whole group there that's against spaying/neutering except when there are medical reasons. And there is a lot more emphasis on the downsides of s/n. I haven't come across that here.
More people in the Netherlands are against docking tales and ears.
There is also a difference in raw feeding. You are more relaxed about raw feeding, and also feed larger and harder bones.
On the Dutch dog communities there are also more discussions about which raw feeding guru to follow, percentages, feeding vegetables, etc.
On this forum people are really more relaxed about it.
And non-dog related:
You own bigger cars :rofl1:
