Our rescue group charges 100 - 125 for cats, and 100-200 for dogs. All animals are speutered, UTD, and dogs are microchipped.

We don't have any blanket requirements for the group besides an age requirement for the adopter. All of our adoptions are done on a case-by-case basis.

Fozzie's adoption fee, from a rescue group, was $150... that didn't include his neuter, but already neutered/spayed adult dogs have the same fee.

The local SPCA charges $80. I think the shelter charges about the same, although some will adopt out already altered dogs for $15, or something! =O

I charge $200 for dog adoptions. I'll have to check with the local shelters, they change their feeds pretty often and also are animal specific.

I don't know about around here, but we paid $125 for Ella when we adopted her from Furry Friends Foundation in Chicago.
And she came spayed, chipped, and UTD on shots.

The SPCA generally charges $60, and they discount the pets that have been there for a while.

For smaller rescues, I've seen dogs adopted out for $150 to $400... for small'ish or young dogs of popular breeds, most charge $300. Breed specific rescues vary in prices... I've seen some charge as little as $200, and others charge $500.

the townshelters here charge about $75 for a dog and something like $50 for cats. They come spay/neutered, upd on rabies, bord, distemper and you have the option of paying more for heartworm/fecal/any other test. However the *more* is about half the price of a normal vet(they do it at cost).

I'm not sure about rescues. I looked at a couple small rescues once and they're requirements were must have fully fenced yard(no lower than 6ft) and must be homeowner. They even said if you don't meet any of the requirements dont' bother to fill out an app. Then there were requirements that varied(in strickness, and absurdity) depending on the rescue(someone must be home at all times during the day, dog must sleep in bed w owner, must be 25 to adopt, must have 4 prior dogs(w. vet ref), etc....)

I understand that they're trying to make sure the dogs don't get brought back, but there are a lot of homes that are good-excellent that don't fit those guidelines. And there are a lot of people who don't, would make good homes, but aren't so into it that they know a good breeder and they end up supporting the bad breeders by buying a puppy bc it's easier than getting a rescue.

The "small" shelter nearby charges $155 for puppies, $105 for adult dogs and $80 for senior dogs.
The "fancy" shelter near the university town charges about the same except that purebreds are more, last time I was there it was $250.
Breed specific rescues want at least $350 for PB Goldens, and I've seen adoption fees as high as $475.

capital area humane society and franklin county dog pound are something like $80... every once in a while franklin county does a reduced fee for black dogs, and "get your dog a friend for half the fees" deals... both those include all their shots and neutering/spaying and dog license. muskingum county charges $45, which includes the license but no neutering/spaying and less than half the shots they need...
