Ok, so I know I said I wanted a collie, but this guy needed a home... and he's really cute. So who am I to say no. Anyway, they said he's a beagle mix.. but I don't see beagle. He's too short, about 12 inches at shoulders. I see basset/cocker... any ideas?

They also said that he's about a yr old, but i'm thinking more like 8-10 months. he still acts very "puppyish" to me.

Well here he is... it was hard to get good pics because he's ALWAYS on the go! this guy's got some serious energy!

He really likes her:

Looks very beagle to me! There are 2 height categories for beagles, 13'' and 15''. The standard for CKC showing is that any beagle 13'' or LESS show in one category and those upto 15'' show in a seperate category.

That dog sure is a cutie!! and I would bet my last breath that it IS a beagle mix!

actually no, I don't see a hole heck of a lot of hounds on Long Island. And to be honest, I was never really into them... so I never paid attention to them. I knew a guy who used to breed beagles(the bigger ones) and bassets when I was younger. And those are actually the only hounds I've ever met.

He sure looks Beagle to me. My Mini is a 13" as well- she measures just over 12" at the shoulder. What a cutie you have there.

I see Beagle in him. But if you don't see Beagle you may be thinking Cocker Spaniel! And by the way he holds his tail, some type of Terrier, as well. Sort of reminds me of a Patterdale, but doubt that's the type of Terrier he has in him.

Screams beagle or primarily beagle-mix to me.

I hadn't thought of Cocker, that might explain the tail . . . a beagle got in with someone's cocker . . .

His tail is docked!
yeah it is, I don't know why... he's def a mix... I thought Basset and cocker mix.... but then found out that there are short beagles! lol. So maybe beagle cocker mix... but he's got some BIG ears... I would think only a purebred dog would get their tails docked?

Congrats on the cute addition! Looks very "beaglie" and spaniel maybe. Do his front legs bow-they look a bit on the head-on photo, maybe basset in there somewhere. But I thought spaniel/beagle right away. Good luck.

How about "Beau"?

Lol, I've actually been calling him Beau as a "for now" name. And yes, for the split second in the day where he's actually standing still you can see that his front legs have a bow look to them.

I for SURE see a LOT of cocker in him. Look at those markings! They are 100% cocker. He has a beagle build with cocker markings.
