Maggie was 2 1/2
Lucy was 15 weeks
Gracie was 4 years
and Gabby was between 2-4

I much prefer grown dogs to puppies when adopting.

Tazwell was 8 years, Archie was 9. They are/were both by far the most rewarding adopted dogs I've ever had the pleasure of living with. Tazwell acted well-behaved, but had the energy of a puppy. Archie's just all around good!

Bojangles was about a year, and Todd was 12 weeks. Most adoptable dogs are around a year old, give or take 6 months. Unfortunately, that's also the most difficult time to handle a dog-- which is what landed most of them in the shelter/rescue in the first place.

Wally was 4 when I adopted him. And he has been SHEER perfection ever since.

I actually know a lot of people who specifically adopt "senior" dogs and even though their time is limited, they find it absolutely rewarding to be able to help these old dogs live out their lives in the best way possible. Not sure if I could ever do it, but maybe one day I'll grow the balls to be able to try.

We got Blue from my aunt's friend who's dog got out and got preggy. They learned their lesson and had her fixed after. They even know who the father was as the owner of the father just let them 'play' and called the next day to let them know where their dog was. Blue was onyl a puppy so we got him a couple weeks after he was ready. Now he is a big 6 year old pup. =)

Luna was a little over a year. Not at all potty trained, but I sure wouldn't want to go through the other puppy phases! Plus she was QUICK to train, which I needed, instead of the ADHD puppies.

Don't pass up the older dogs... almost all of mine have been somewhere between old and ancient when I've adopted them and they've all been great! :)

Baskerville - 18 mos.
Abercrombie - 8 mos.
Pearl - 17 yrs.
Jack - 14 yrs.
Smooch - 14 yrs.
Pepsi - 5 yrs.
Crack Baby - 18 yrs.
Teddy - 9 yrs.

Most of the old ones were small breeds that tend to live a good, long time. Almost all of them lived for years after I adopted them, with the exception of Jack, who had cancer when I got him and only made it for about 8 months and Crack Baby, who only stuck around for about 18 months.
