In a society where we've effectively over-ridden the concepts of Darwinism with our advanced medicine, readily available food and water, and a fairly good standard of living, people STILL find ways to off themselves.

It's sad. I mean he was just 17. But still, why climb the fence? I realize that's what teenagers do. Done it myself. But I always climbed fences onto, say, property. Or to get to a river. Or a friends house. Never once did it occur to me that climbing a fence to get to the mechanisms of a running roller coaster might be a good idea.

All things considered, he could have bought a new hat. He certainly doesn't need it now.

A real shame. My heart goes out to the family over this.

I hope his friend recovers after seeing that happen. I don't think I'd ever be the same. So sad. I hope his family recovers, as well.

Omg, imagine being THAT rider..........

In May 2002, 58-year-old groundskeeper Samuel Milton Guyton of Atlanta was killed after he wandered in a restricted area under the Batman roller coaster's path and was struck in the head by the dangling leg of one of the ride's passengers.

I think I might feel resentful of my murdering foot.

It would be a nightmare... the good foot would get all smug and righteous and want to be relocated, the bad foot would rebel and demand equal rights claiming it was an unfortunate accident....

In the meantime, I'd be piggy in the middle, not knowing which way to turn :D
