 Chihuahua's are probably one of the tuffest breeds to housebreak. My chi goes on her weewee pad but just pees. She always poo's under the bed. I can't seem to get her to change the habit i once picked up the poo and put it on her weewee pad she started going on it but then stopped. I cant walk her until august when she has all her shots. How can I change this habit of hers?

I would still be taking her outside to potty. How old is she? How long have you had her? Are you crate training?

As long as she's up to date on her shots and there aren't alot of dogs/cats around you should be o.k. to take her out. Little dogs can take longer to housebreak (going outside) than bigger dogs, however it takes most breeds until they are 6 months old before they have bladder and bowel control. If she's going under your bed, make your bedroom off limits. Keep her beside you or in site and make sure she only goes on the pads.

I bought some scent spray at petsmart when i was potty training my puppy. I would spray it on a bush outside and he would go there every time. It was really cheap (5.00) and you can use it indoors also. It has a stronger scent to the dog and may encourage her to use the pads instead. (although the dogs can smell it, humans usually can't so don't be worried by that) :)

Thanks for all the great info , I had no idea I could walk her someone had told me I couldn't until her shots are over with completely. Shes two months old and I've had her since the 9th of this month. Right now in my household her brother lives with her, because my sister got her brother and so their living together right now. He has a place where they put a gate his food toys and all that where chi chi was too, she would go on the pads their and sometimes the floor so ill probably move her back I had seperated her to get her used to being away from her brother but shes already gotten used to it so I'll definately move her back and that spray sounds excellent. I'm looking foward to taking her out for a walk now too so Im gonna let her in the backyard first.

weewee too

I used the pads in the past and my border collie mix only took 3 days before he was using the pad and used the 'placing puppy's own poo' trick and the spray and that worked like magic. That is not working at all with my current Bernese pup. I use the spray and it does not interest him at all.
