At around 1 o'clock today, after a long frantic search for my mom's liver-spotted dalmation puppy Dottie, my neighbour called. I answered the phone. Here's how the conversation went.

Neighbour: Look out the window.
Me: What? *looks out window* WTF?! (I had this look on my face: :yikes: )

Anyway, there's a guy walking a liver-spotted puppy down the street, and it has the same brown brown patch around her eye and the same brown paw and leg on her front left leg.

Anyway, I walked outside and started yelling to him since he was nearly past my neighbour's house. I said 'Hey! Hey mister! That's my dog!'. He took one look at me and picked Dottie up and started to run down the street.

I told him to freeze or I'd call the police right then on the spot (though I was still on the phone with my neighbour and I told her to call the police anyway. I mean, it's my mom's dog and the guy is trying to make off with her. Theft much?) So he looks at me, and started to cross the street to make a fast get away.

I pulled out Dawson, my mom's rottweiler. He isn't PA or DA, but he still is a good on-command attack dog, or so says my dad. Anyway, I yell 'hey, buddy, wanna meet the rottie?' The guy took one look at Dawson, and froze. A few minutes later the police cruiser shows up, and the police officer got mad at me for using Dawson as an empty threat (he's a big dog lover, we went to highschool together).

The police officers took Dottie to the shelter to check her chip to confirm it was my mom's, (even though I got mad and told them Dottie had had enough stress) then we picked her up.

Why an idiot would walk a stolen puppy in broad daylight is beyond my reasoning.

Arson has been ever so protective of his sister now. It's so cute to see how much they missed eachother. >.<

Some people have nerve!

So glad you have Dottie back safe and sound... shower her with some extra affection and she will forget all about her few days of stress.

Good Luck.

OMG what a story! I'm so glad you had presence of mind in that moment. And what a relief to find her safe and sound! Your mom would have been so sad if the news had been bad...

Yay!

WOW!

honestly, i really didn't think you'd get her back. I had a feeling she'd been picked up. Good thing the guy who puppy-napped her was a moron :)

Are you gonna tell your mom about the ordeal?

Omg! What kind of person would do that?

I had a pup stolen from me once. We let the people have him, because they wouldn't give him back. Now he's dead :\ I wasn't really attached, he had just been one of a litter Baby had had.

My guess is that he didn't steal her, but found her and decided to keep her, without worrying about finding the owners... Not much better though.

Because I went to highschool with the police officer, I called up his sister and demanded his number. She gave it to me because apparently he had a crush on me in highschool (oblivious to me until today). Anyway,I called him and asked about the guy.

He told me that the guy would get some jail time but he couldn't say too much. He also said the guy admitted he was watching us through binoculars a little ways away in his sister-in-law's house. He saw Dottie get out and he actually walked over to her at like 4 in the morning, gave her some treats and took her home with him.  What an idiot.

And then this police guy asked me if I'd go to lunch with him tommorow.:)

I realy didn't think I would get her back, I was realy scared because a lot of people tend to hunt down purebreds and take 'em where I live, which is why I plan on moving to a different area now that I have several dogs in my home, all purebreds but 1.

I sent her all your smooches and happiness and good wishes, and I tell you she is the most spoiledest pupper you will ever meet. Now she's allowed to sleep in my room and Dawson and Arson won't leave her side.

They're so cute! I seem to have misplaced my camera, but I'll be looking out for it so I can grab some picks of the trio.
