Hi guys -

I wrote a few months ago about Watson, my almost-11-year old German Shepherd who was acting strangely after the passing of my mother, who was his owner. And largely everyone thought his odd behaviors were just that of mourning, and possibly he had a UTI, but we took care of that with the vet and it didn't seem to be the problem.

Well, it's been nearly 5 months now, and some things just aren't right. For the past week, he's been panting a lot, even when not doing exercise. He pants in the middle of the night a lot, when it's neither not nor did he do any exercise. He just kind of pants a lot in general.

I originally wrote on here that he had issues with having to go to the bathroom a lot. That subsided for a couple months, but now it's back and it now seems to be #1 as well as #2. He has to do #2 several times a day now, and often times he'll have to go REALLY BADLY and just goes nuts so he can do outside. This never really used to happpen before.

Still has to get me up 3-4 times a night to go outside, although that, too, subsided for a couple months. But it's back again. Between midnight and 7am, he'll usually have to go 2-4 times.

This may be unrelated or not, but he also seems to have some sores on his lips. Like a little rip in the skin on each side of his bottom lip, and then a tiny one under his chin. It seems to be bothering less now (about 4 days after I noticed it) so I don't know if it's related or important, but thought I'd mention it.

Thank you for anyone who reads this post and is willing to help me out a little bit. It is really appreciated. :)

11 yrs old is quite old for a GSD. Part of his problems are probably related to that. Best advice was already given....take him to the Vet.

I really feel for you . Besides his age and his loss of your Mom, he really needs a lot of TLC.
