We think Shiner was. I believe she came into the same pound twice. It wouldn't surprise me, she was a little out of control when my brother adopted her.

Radar was. He lost his original home to a new baby and was taken in by the shelter. He was adopted and returned because of his seperation anxiety. The people only had a him a few days and didn't give him a chance. Their loss. Lilly has been with us her entire life.

The humane society didn't/wouldn't tell us, the only thing they let us know was why she was turned in originally, which was behavior problems. Digging, chewing, trash picking.........the usual for an 8-9 month old puppy that isn't shown any better.
It would not surprise me at all to find out she had been returned, when I say chew & dig............I mean CHEW & DIG.
Edited to add I am talking of Phoebe (border mix)

Well all of our dogs we have now have been purchased from breeders but our old Husky Shelby was brought into one shelter as a stray, was adopted out and returned due to not being housebroken, and then she was transferred to another shelter which is the shelter that we adopted her from. I'm sure if Hannah ever wound up in a shelter though she'd be adopted and returned MANY times though, she's just a nut :D!

Ollie was ... thank God !!! He was a stray and adopted by a working family . They loved him to death , but would come home to a house in total wreck !! I don't know if they had a crate or not , but he is a table surfer and I have to check on him constantly .... I've had him 6 months now and he's 70% better . In fact , if he " finds " something , he usually brings it to show me . I'd say he's only crated here at the most 2 hours a week .... only when I go out and can't bring him . We're both happy campers !

The reason I am asking is because I was keeping an eye on a dog on a shelter nearby and the day before we where going to go see her she got an adopted sign beside her name. Its a few days later and now that sign is gone and she is still listed.

Since it is not a rescue maybe it was an impulse buy and someone changed their mind or something, but it does make me curious.

Aubrey was, don't know why, but my guess is because she used to have horrible leash manners as far as pulling went. I called her my little cart horse when she first came home because of how strong she could pull. Daniel now has her enrolled in a CGC course though because of how well-behaved she's become. :)

I think Sawyer was just dumped in the country and they said Virgo was a stray, but nothing past that.

How could anyone " dump" Sawyer !!!! Sob !!! As to you , Mis , maybe the family checked out with their kids or another pet .... the HS should tell you why ! I know when I adopted Ollie , they questioned whether an " old lady " could handle him . ! I think they expected he'd be return . Sorry folks !!! He's MINE !!

Smokey was returned after 2 months by a couple that had a 1 year old baby. They said that Smokey didn't get along with the baby, but I don't think that was the truth because Smokey just loves kids. I think it was just probably too much for them to handle a 1 year old and take care of a dog too.. Anyway, I am glad they returned Smokey , so that I could adopt her.

Banzai was rescued from a SPCA in the southern part of the Central Valley and then shuffled from rescue to owner-to rescue-to foster mom- to us. :( He's in his FOREVER home now. :)

That's a question I've asked myself every day since I got him! Both he and his sister are just absolute DARLINGS...but hey, their mistake, my everlasting gain!

Ollie had better not be going anywhere! He's a hoot!

Cider was bought and returned to the pet store 3 days later for acting like a puppy who wasn't potty trained, and was bitey.

I know Ollie will be with me until the end .... he looks after me like a trained therapy dog ! Last night he decided to sleep with his nose at the nape of my neck ..... I tried to synchronize our breathing until he gave a huge sigh that almost knocked me out of bed ! How could anyone curse a dog who cuddles up with an arm over you shoulder ! Sorry to say , but he cuddles more than my husband ever did ! And he never expects anything more than a pat , rub and a kiss .!
