My 4 yr old Rottweiler started vomiting last nite, and has vomited during the nite, and also has diarhea. She can't keep anything down. We gave her some pepto bismol, but that hasn't seemed to help. Any ideas?

I hope you've taken the dog to the vet.
Vomiting and diarhea can be a sign of a blocked GI tract.
Lucky for Dante and I his passed and he didn't need surgery.

I hope your dog is better tonight.

There is some NASTY intestinal stuff going around. MANY dogs were sick recently at our National in Pennsylvania.

One older dog has died, and another is highly critical at a Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

I had 2 dogs get ill, neither of which attended the show, but apparnelty my young bitch brought this stuff home with her.

GET to the vet.

The quicker the treatment the easier they have it.

It took my middle girl a week to get over it completely.

I took Lily to the vet yesterday morning, and the vet sent home iv fluids. The vet didnt say what it could be, but after her first 500 cc's of fluids she started feeling alot better, and now she is good. Thank you all for your concern!

our 2 yo (almost) Lab has been having diarhea on and off since Saturday evening. it was very bad, watery stuff Saturday...we gave pepto and made sure she was drinking water. Sunday it was trying to get solid, but not quite...again, plenty of fluids and some food. Today, she's a combination of the past two days...the first bit will be gooey, but not to bad and as she's finishing up it's just watery *twice now with blood* discharge. they're going to the vet tomorrow (we tried to get them in saturday but they were closing at noon and said there were emergencies and she should be ok til Tuesday morning). our youngest, 10 wks, is fine...no diarhea, drinking, eating normally etc. I gave her pedialyte and some Immodium AD.

i was told rice and chicken (boiled) would help stop it as well. is this true? is there something besides her dry food that i can give her to eat so she won't continue having diarhea??? i want her to eat, but i know she's getting plenty of fluids in the meantime.

btw, there is an intestinal virus going around...supposedly...nothing to serious according to second hand vet comments, but may require antibiotics. guess we'll find out tomorrow

My ch. lab pup Zoe is having the runs and now it has turned to a slimey substance with no poop. She then kept straining to go but nothing.:(

She is also vomiting occasionally something yellow and looks to me like bile. Her appetite has gone down also last day or so.

I have to take her to the vet this afternoon. She is still very active and lively and busy but I am worried about this. She is due for second shots but not sure they will give them to her today.

This sounds very similar to a Tummy upset that Bailey had back in March.
Good to get her to the vets, they can give her the right Meds and advise on a bland diet for her.
I wouldn't think that they will give her shots while she is unwell.
Good luck with her :)
