Vicious Pit Bull?????????Not hardly.....

For those of you who think pit bulls are vicious, you need to read this......
I talked to my dad last night. He has two pit bulls at his house too. Well, he let one of them out yesterday and when she came back in, she had something in her mouth. My cousin thought it was a dead puppy and threw it in the trash. Well, my dad wanted to see what kind of puppy it was, so he opened the trash, and it was moving. You see, it wasn't a puppy. It was a baby rabbit not even two or three weeks old. There was not a scratch on this baby rabbit. Ubie, that's the pits name, had found her a baby and she was just bringing it home to take care of it. The rabbit is just fine. My family is bottle feeding it right now. My dad couldn't believe that Ubie had this baby in her mouth and never once hurt it...

That's a real vicious dog, all right! (rofl) One of my GSD's tried to raise three baby rabbits once after the neighbor's dog killed the mother (I saw it happen). Naturally, we had to take them away from him and give them to a friend who raises and rehabs wildlife, but it was so touching to see him gather them all up and lay down and make a fence with his front legs so they wouldn't wander off. One of my aunts moved in with us for a few months one time, along with her 3 boys, 2 cats, 11 kittens and 1 husband, and poor Purdue (the GSD) almost drove himself nuts trying to keep track of all those kittens!

We've sure have had some vicious dogs, haven't we? ;}

Thats so sweet! We had an incident here this week where an owner of 2 pit bulls left his dogs unattended, they got out and attacked a lady walking in the street so badly that her legs and arms were like mince meat. Apparently he has been warned numerous times that his dogs are getting out of hand, yet he just leaves them and goes away without thinking twice about it. Apparently the dogs have gotten out a few times and stopped the neighbours from going in and out of their own houses. I dont think dogs mean to hurt, if they are brought up by people who only want them for being fighter dogs, thats what their nature would will become.

That is why pit bulls have such a bad rep. Because of people like that. I hate that. That is the one thing that I can not stand. I get so mad when I hear stuff like that. The only thing you hear about pit bulls is bad, and that is why everyone hates them.

WOW..."THATS A SWEET GENTLE PITBULL". I still think the "MEDIA" plays apart in all the "HOOPLA" with the bigger dogs. You don`t here to many news stories about a taco bell dog attacking a person. But, If a pitbull, doberman, rott, chow etc. attacks a person, your local news station & newspaper will cover it and if its bad enough it gets on the national news.

You are so right My1Boxer, the media never carries stories about the good thing Pitts do.

That's because of

a) Statistics - which of course are very inaccurate 80% of the time considering officers and other officials rarely know the difference between a pit bull and say, a boxer or a shar pei...hence if some other dog does it and its not a pit, these morons still label it as one because they have no general knowledge of breeds.

b) The degree of the bite - Lets face it..if a Chihuahua bites someone, and a pit bull or dobie bites someone, the degree of the bite won't likely be the same we all know that. So the media of course makes a huge fuss about it and never shows the attacking chihuahua, which mind you, many of them are highly HUMAN AGGRESSIVE (I have one!)... there is a huge difference between human aggression and animal aggression.. pit bulls have animal aggression..its quite normal for them to possess this trait since it has been bred into the dogs for centuries..however human aggression is completely different and actually quite abnormal to find in pit bull terriers (unless of course you TRAIN it to attack, tease it, and just abuse the poor thing until it goes nuts!)....however it isn't uncommon in Chihuahuas..most pit bulls which possess human aggression are usually put down without a question...but if a chihuahua or poodle possesses this trait, we usually laugh it off and say "aww what a cute mean little bugger."...hmm...BULL SHIZ!!!! :mad:

c) I lost my train of thought so there is no c right now... :D

Hi,
I personaly do noy like Pit Bulls becuase they have been know on killing people and animals on the news! But some are very sweet! Depending on how you raise them. And when i am with one i dont know how its been trained so i dont know if i can trust it cause i know they are capeable on doing a lot of damage! Yours seems nice!

For that matter, the St. Bernard that lived near my Grandmother was completely untrustworthy with people or animals. He bit several people, a couple rather severely, and mauled at least half a dozen dogs and was murder on cats.

Of course, his owners were unspeakable people, and they finally moved away in the middle of the night after getting enough threats. They weren't locals, and it dawned on them that the rules of engagement were different for 'furriners' who caused trouble. ;}

A-w-w-w....sweet story.

No, Chihuahuas aren't vicious because they're chihuahuas. No dog is vicious because of their breed. The ability or potential to be vicious is a dog thing, not a breed thing. They all possess to one degree or another the ability of these traits. It's how they're bred and handled which makes the finishing touches on them I believe. Of course various breeds have stronger tendencies, such as the Pit's dog aggressiveness. But the bottom line as to attacks happening: poor owner handling and lack of responsibility.

Hey tl ashmore,

That's a brilliant story. How about your dad taking pictures and sending the story to the local papers and various dog sites. Pitties need all the good press they can get. Apart from that I'd just love to see the pics of that big old meanie and his orphaned bunny. :)
