My Bailey Boy is scheduled dental surgery for tomorrow. He'll probably have an extraction, though we'll wait to see what the x-rays show and I'll want to hear what the specialist recommends.

He's had a broken tooth for a while, but it became infected very recently. I knew about the tooth and had tried to keep an eye on it, and it was just seen by a vet about a month ago, but the infection caught me off guard.

Anyway, vibes for a safe and successful procedure are welcomed and appreciated. He's doing great now (thanks to meds from the e-vet yesterday) and I am trying to manage my anxiety about the anesthesia (coupled with guilt for not getting him in sooner).

Thanks so much, guys. :)

I didn't sleep much, sigh. Think I'm going to come off as even more of a neurotic dog mom today than usual. ;)

Those kinds of things are not easy to notice. Don't kick yourself. Bailey will be fine. Lots of vibes being sent.

We're home and he's fine! :)

It was a long day. I really liked the vet's office (she's a specialist we were referred to, so we hadn't been there before) -- they let him stay with me after the catheter in his leg was put in, then gave him his pre-surgery meds and brought him back out sit with me some more while they kicked in. They were also kind enough to bring him back out to me almost right after surgery since he was kind of freaking out. That was kind of tough as I'd never seen a dog coming out of anesthesia before, and he was really upset, but I was so glad that they arranged it so that I could be there for him.

Anyway, he's still pretty anxious (still whining off and on), but he's home, and hopefully he'll sleep well tonight and be back to normal tomorrow.

Thanks so much to everyone who posted -- it means a lot.

(Also, I saw a well bred year-old flat coated retriever, who was adorable.)
