Last night when I was leaving to feed the horses there was a black dog (pretty sure a lab) running loose around the neighborhood. I've seen her once before a few weeks ago. She seemed friendly but skittish at first. I managed to get close to her but she had not ID on her collar and she pulled away and got loose again. We live in town (busy roads) and it was dark and she is black and she almost got hit by a car right in front of me twice. We finally caught her and went all over the neighborhood asking people if they knew who she belonged to. Nobody did.
She's fat and seemed like a nice dog-I'm sure she belongs to someone. Unfortunately, when we couldn't find her owner we had to take her to the police station who took her to the county shelter this morning. I hated to do it but our house is too small to crate and rotate and Sally would have sh!t kittens if we brought a female strange dog into the house.
I really wish her owners had put ID on her--even just written a phone number with a Sharpie on the collar--I would have loved to take her home rather than "turn her in."
I just called the paper and put a found ad in directing people to the shelter and am going to put flyers up too. This girl could really use Chaz vibes--preferably to be reunited with her family, but if not to be adopted out.......
