A lot of ya'll seem like you're getting overcharged.
We charge $71 for a full annual check up. This is for the exam, vaccinations, fecal, heartworm test, everything. We'll even clip their nails and express their glands if you ask us to.
Our exam fees are expensive, $31, but we don't charge for followup exams if you need to come back for an ongoing problem (like a healing wound or something like that).
Vaccinations are generally $15 if you get them seperately from the annual package. Heartworm test is $20. Fecal is $12. A large part of our visits are just getting the animals annual check up. If you need just a shot or a fecal (you have to have an exam for a heartworm test since the vet has to interpret the results and talk to the owner if it comes up positive) then our lab tech covers that and it'll just cost you whatever that particular procedure costs.
The first vet my sister went to, however, wasn't quite like that. You had to pay a $10 office fee. Every time. Even if you just wanted to get their nails clipped, it was $10 plus the fee for the procedure (which I think was another $10).
Some vet clinics are just ridiculous with their pricing.
I like the idea of giving owners with fixed animals a discount though. I'm gonna have to propose that to my vet and see what she thinks.
