Rocky has vomitted today 3 times. The first time it was white with hair and stuff in it. The 2nd and 3rd time were like brown, at least it was in the carpet.

Both of them were a small amount.

What's going on here? Is it normal for a puppy to throw up sometimes?

:(

I wonder if maybe he has eaten something he shouldn't have? Sometimes Carey will throw up for no reason (that I know of anyway) but she ends up being fine. You aren't missing anything he may have eaten are you?

Dogs do occasionally throw up, but 3 times in a row has me a little concerned. What is more important is if he will eat or drink and if he is acting lethargic or not???

I sure hope Rocky is feeling better! 3 times is alot...good thing it wasn't much. I also wondered how he seemed otherwise? sometimes it is just something they shouldn't have eaten...I know Addie will sometimes eat grass, throw up a little..and never seem sick at all. keep us posted, Big.

Well, guess what, guys? I got a little too worried and I took him to the vet.

Anyway, the vet said that there's nothing really wrong with him.

And he won't eat much and he is acting lethargic. My vet gave him this treat and Rocky messed with it and started eating and nibbling on it somewhat. But the vet said from what he's seen he still has some of an appetite.

They checked him out and they said he was fine. The doctor said that his stool was firm and that it seemed that it was STARTING to get a little soft and if he does develope diarrhea to give him Imodium.

Oh, and they gave him shot for his vomitting.

Right now, I'm feeding him half a can of i/d for his food... to help his stomach, I guess.

So, hopefully things'll get better...

Hope he feels better soon. If he does get the runs, give him some plain canned pumpkin. This will help harden his stool again. It's nice to know how much you care for him; you're a good dad.

You can feed him some cooked white chicken meat and a little rice, potato or sweet potato to settle his stomach. Cheaper than the I/D and actually better for him ;) He'll really like the rice if you cook it in chicken broth.

Don't let him drink too much water all at once either. Fill his bowl up with ice then pour the water over that so it will stay good and cold and he won't be able to gulp. He may even like chewing on the ice.

Vomiting is pretty normal in dogs, there could be numerous possibilities to why Rocky is vomiting e.g. worms, forgein body or a dietry problem.

What are you feeding Rocky?

If you don't think that it is his diet then i'd suggest contacting your vet and getting him to take a look at him.

Hope everything goes OK, im sure he'll be fine.

Read the rest of the thread-- I took him to the vet.

So far, he's fine. He's sleeping right now since I played with him.

And right now, Natural Choice is what I'm feeding him. I can't afford anything else... it's the only decent food I can afford.

Rocky should be fine. He might have some kind of a stomach virus thing, is all. You're a good Dad to take him to his doctor already! I hope the shot will settle his stomach...

Also flat coke works great for the upset stomach. Glad to hear the pooch is doing good.

Thanks, I really love him a lot.

Anyway, thanks for everybody's concern and responses. He seems to be okay right now. He's got his head and feet poking out from under my bed sleeping--his favorite spot  :D.

Flat coke? THat's weird. I'd think flat ginger ale if anything. All that sugar and caffeine can't be good for a tummy. Not mine anyway!

That's true, Saje. Caffeine probably not great especially on a puppies tummy that's not supposed to have it. My vet has said Pepto-Bismol's ok for dogs, too. I've done that before (in pill form, not liquid).
