Morgan had a good weekend. A perfect little gentleman! I am very proud. :)

(This is going to be a long and probably boring story, but I'm thrilled so I decided to share!)

On Saturday, I took him in to work with me. Saturdays are usually pretty slow, and a few other coworkers bring their dogs in to hang out for the day, too. So along came Morgan! We started out the day with him tethered to my beltloop. He was very good about following along with me, although he spent a lot of time getting tangled up around my legs, so I eventually just unhooked his leash. (I work in a back-room repair shop, there isn't really anyplace he could go if he had chosen to wander off.)

He was so good! I walk around a lot at work, and he was well behaved and followed along even without his leash. A couple times he would start to follow his nose to visit other people or dogs (or the refridgerator), but he would come right back when I called him. A few times he tried to be stubborn and not return when called, instead just stand at a distance and start at me. At those points I just told him, "alright then, I'll just leave without you!" and walk out of his line of sight. Only a few times of that, and he came running every time!

We did have a couple funny little moments. At one point halfway through the day, I was walking from one area to the next and noticed that Morgan was WAY behind me. Still following, but very very slowly. I called his name so he would look at me, and his eyes were red! Of course, I immediately get down on the floor to see what the matter was, and he promptly RAN to my lap and instantly konked out... fast asleep. Poor sleepy puppy! So I sat on the floor with a snoring puppy on my lap for about 20 minutes. Adorable!

Another time, we were playing with his tennis ball in the warehouse (they have long aisles with just shelves of inventory... a perfect runway for fetching). After one good toss, instead of bringing the ball back he ran back into the repair shop without me! So I ran into the next room to find him, and he was busy trying to give his tennis ball to another dog as a peace offering. (Coworkers dog is a bit older, and just wants to sleep under a desk all day... something which Morgan could not understand for the life of him.) So that was cute, too. The funniest part is that when I called him back, he nosed the ball one more time to the other dog and then just left it there as he ran back to me. He's so cute. :)

Needless to say, he slept very well Saturday night.

Yesterday we were home all day, so he was able to run around uncrated for a good part of the day. He came when called, didn't pester the cats too much, brought us toys to play with, and even took a nap by our feet for about an hour! But best of all... *drumroll please*... he finally started ASKING to be let outside! And when we took him outside, he went STRAIGHT to his spot in the yard and did his business! HOORAY!

We also got a little braver playing ball in the yard with him. We don't have a fence yet (project for this summer) so all outdoor excursions, even to potty, are leashed. Yesterday, we felt good enough to let go of the leash, and he played fetch in the backyard with us for a good 30-45 minutes without anybody holding on to the other end. Of course, now his lease needs washing since he spent all that time dragging it through the mud, but I don't even care. It was a good day.

Needless to say, I'm in a good mood. :) Again, I apologize, because I am not the most concise when I type... but good stories are always worth telling, IMO.

I need to post new pictures of Morgan... He's getting so big! Don't worry, I'll be updating with those in not too long. ;)

Sounds like Morgan is coming along nicely, smart as a whip too :) He sounds like a lovely pup - especially the bit about taking his ball to the other dog . . . that's just too sweet.

Thanks! He's been doing very well, and I owe it all to the advice I got here on Chazhound! :hail:

He's the first pup I've ever met that shares his toys they way he does. He will give things to us, to our house guests, to other dogs, even to our cats!

I really feel that we lucked out with this cutie. And I promise there will be updated pictures by the end of the week. ;)
