Greg's mom gave us $2500.00 for Christmas. She said to use it on a trip or something for the house. We're going to use it for a vacation. Any ideas?? We'd like to go somewhere warm but don't want to spend a fortune.

Would you like someplace warm or cold?

Maui, Skagway, Seattle, Vancouver, Toronto, Edmonton...

Edit: oops, just read you want someplace warm lol. Then anywhere in Hawaii, Mexico, Costa Rica, etc.

I know you said warm, but we just got back from a vacation to NYC, and it was wonderful! We took our two kids (10 and almost 8), and they did really good. We saw the Lion King on Broadway, the Rockettes, and the Blue Man Group. We ate wonderful food, walked in Central Park, and visited the Statue of Liberty. And believe it or not, it wasn't even cold - and I'm from Texas!

I'm not a city visitor ..... I love remote, quiet Caribbean beaches. Check out Ambergris Caye off Belize ......fun place , and no shoes ! Great snorkling .

I've always wanted to go to NYC...that would be so much fun!!! My ex husband and I went there for the day with some friends when we were in Mass for a wedding, but it wasn't a good experience that time because we didn't know where to go.

NYC is cool :) just keep in mind, you will come back feeling like you need a vacation cause of all the walking!!

If you want to be lazy on the beach the whole time, i HIGHLY recommend an all inclusive resort in mexico or the dominican (the places where i have found the cheapest). Endless food and drinks are included, as well as lots of activities. Let me know if ya want some more details...ive been to a few of them.

I know you can get pretty good deals on one of those all inclusive resorts. My friend goes to those regularly. Maybe stop by a travel agent and ask for ideas in your price range?

You'd get more bang for your bucks in the Caribbean than Hawaii ...I prefer the waters there over the Pacific or the Atlantic oceans . Elin and I have gone for 6 years and flights/resort have always been under $ 1500 .

Dena ... I agree. We've met many people who have switched to Caribbean .Say it's like Hawaii back 30 years ago . Besides , from here it's too long a flight . We can leave here and be on the beach in 3 hrs.

There are forums on tripadvisor.com where people share their vacation experiences and advice.

We have done all through Ambassadair Club ...changed hands and now is free . They have straight through chartered flights out of Indy . They handled all bags, tips etc which was nice. Think you can get same deals through the net though . I personally think travel agencies charge more .
