Okay, i've posted about Loki on here before, he was sick for a couple weeks when i first got him from the shleter with a respiratory infection. the Vet gave me an antibiotic, Loki took it for 2 weeks until it was gone, and got much much better, eating all the food i'd give him and very playful.

He has gone to the vet for his 1st and 2nd vacc's, and on the 2nd time, they did a fecal sample adn he had roundworms. So they gave me a dewormer that i gave one dose that day, and the one dose 2 weeks later.

So i gave the 1st dose that day (2 weeks ago about) and he immideiatly lost his appitite that day. I thought mabye the dewormer just upset his tummy, but then over the next 2 weeks his appitite never came back, even after i gave the 2nd dose. He WAS eating about 3 cups of food(canidae and pedigree...getting used to teh better food) a day, and always was hungry and ate it right up, but now i'm lucky if i can get him to eat almost 1 cup. I started givingn him innova evo becuase he tended to eat more of it (he won't touch the pedigree or canidae anymore) and some canned food he'll eat, but usually not unless its got something else in it (like a treat or a little milk, or penut butter, or meat, but nto always then even) Sometimes i can only get him to eat out of my hands. i don't want to spoil him, but i'm worried since he's only 4 months and still coughs once and awhile, and he's been eating so little.

I looked him all over and nothing looks wrong, no lumps in his tummy or mouth, teeth are all there and normal looking, eyes are clear, nose is clear, and damp and he still chews on his toys.

He is still taking his vitamins (from the vet) drinking, peeing, pooing, and actingn completly normal, playful, going on walks....does anybody have any idea what's wrong!?!?! i'm so frustrated...i've tried EVERYTHING i can thiink of!!!!!!

He's going to see the vet monday, but i just wanted to see if anyone here had any ideas what could be the matter, or what i could do.

What is his body condition like?

That would be your clue as to whether he is eating enough or not.

The Evo is a very high powered and nutrient dense food.

How big is Loki? Like Redyre said, the EVO is a very nutrionally dense food and he probably is eating all he really needs to eat. For example, just on the Adult Innova, my dog only eats a little over 2 cups a day, and he weighs 50 pounds. If he were to be on EVO, it would be less.

He may be just fine and is one of those good dogs that quits eating when they're full.

Loki is about 15ish lbs...give or take a couple. He is not skinny, but he's not as chubby as he was before (mostly cuz his tummy isn't as full). I can feel his ribs, but through a little layer of fat. He is supposed meduium-big when he is older, since he is part husky, and then part some sort of spaniel. The reason i am really worrying about him not eating so much is because before he was dewormed he was always ravenous...would deworming him reduce his appitite that much, since he doesn't have worms using some of his nutritients? That was one reason i came up with...also, thats a good point that dogs don't need as much of innova evo...but it reccomends 1 and 3/4-3 cups for a puppy Loki's age and size...

You'd be surprised at how much worms cause fluctuations in the appetite. It sounds like his body condition is right about perfect, and you mentioned that everything else is normal as well.

I know on the Innova Adult bag they give different activity levels as well, is your dog eating to his level?

THey don't have anything about activity levals on the innova evo bag...but Loki is about meduim active, he goes on a couple walks a day and plays, and then goes to sleep, or is naughty. but i do have good news!! Loki just ate his whole breakfast (i gave him like a little over a half a cup of evo, and a couple plain cherrios which he loves) It does seem like it was the de-worming that caused the change in his appitite, since other than that nothing has changed with him!

I've seen puppies with worms that seemed to be forever starving. once the worm problem was corrected, normal appetite resumed. sounds like he is just fine, with you being able to feel his ribs but not see his ribs. you don't want him to be fat. :) Loki is a lucky dog to have you taking good care of him! :)
