I've been ordering all sorts of things online for like 4 years now. And most of my stuff comes UPS. They always leave my packages on the porch. In the past few months I've had to go track down my packages since they are leaving them in all sorts of places. I bought a few last minute gifts for Christmas and so far the UPS delivery man has left them in 4 different places. In the mailbox. Which is for the united states postal service only. I talked to someone who works for USPS and they said that no other carrier is allowed to leave packages in the mailbox. Then I get a note from my USPS carrier telling me I need to tell these other carries to stop leaving things in my mailbox.

One day this week the UPS man put the package in our truck parked in the driveway. I thought it was someone trying to steal the truck and went to the door and saw the man with boxes and the UPS truck in the driveway. I would have said something to him but i was still in my pj's.

I just checked the tracking number on another package and it said it was delivered today, but there is no package on my property. I checked everywhere including the places I would think they wouldn't be left. So I'm guessing it's in the mailbox. I'm just worried something is going to end up missing.

Has anyone else had any experience with with? Should I call UPS and tell them not to leave things in my mailbox? My mail lady is getting kinda angry because of this. She delivers my mail and finds packages in the mailbox that she didn't put there and don't go out in that days mail. I've opoligized to her so many times already.

Yes call UPS and tell them what is going on and give them a specific area that you want your packages to always be placed. Luckily we have a great UPS man it has been the same guy since like 2000 so he knows what to do. You might have different guys coming with your deliveries so the best thing you can do is call UPS directly and tell them where you want your packages put.

I think I would call UPS. It sounds like their driver for your area could use a little more training, LOL. That's just craziness!

I've been having trouble with the UPS driver that delivers to my work. He's already lost one package, because he left it at the "front door" of a skyscraper. Then, with another package, I had to have the mailroom guys wait in ambush, because he was too dim to find the 10th floor.

Give the local UPS hub a call and ask to talk to the drivers supervisor. UPS is not supposed to even leave packages without a signature unless the shipper release option has been chosen. You driver shouldn't be leaving packages any where he pleases, especially on your truck...is this a new driver? Check and see if he's been getting a signature for your deliveries, if so he's either signing for you or skipping the signature completely.

We're working on it. I sicc'ed the firm mailroom on him . . . they're dealing with the issue . . . if they actually manage to get someone on the phone who can help, they'll conferance me in.

What they lost was inexpensive enough that, frankly, I can afford to deal with it instead of bill hours.

Uh, UPS SUCKS.

I'm sorry to any who post here who might work for them, but I thought it was just OUR local UPS that sucked.
It must be nation-wide, though.

I would DEFINITELY contact your local UPS.
UGH...jweughauIHATEUPS!!!

My rope supplier ships UPS and it takes, 99% of the time, FIVE days for my packages to get here. WTF. I keep getting on my supplier to CHANGE to a different shipper (hell, even regular USPS would have my packages here quicker), but they have a contract. THEN, 95% of the time, my packages are smashed in when I get them!!!! I've taken pictures because it's HORRIBLE. Granted, it's only rope, but what if it were something breakable???? Now, whenever I order from somewhere that uses UPS I always add in the order instructions area to have them tell UPS NOT to let an elephant sit on my package. I did this with the sardine oil I ordered for Ella. I try to avoid ordering from places that ship via UPS as much as possible because I CANNOT STAND their service.
I've only EVER signed for one package out of ALL the packages I've gotten that were shipped via UPS.
I advise any people here, who own a business, NOT to use them unless you don't mind your customer's packages getting smashed in and/or kicked to their front door. My favorite way to ship is USPS priority. It's cheapest and they handle packages with care. I also like FedEx, but they're a tad pricey.

Don't use DHL either. The college I work at uses DHL to deliver their packages for the biology department and they SUCK. We've had packages marked "LUNG TISSUE- MUST BE REFRIDGERATED UPON ARRIVAL" left on our front desk when they are not supposed to do that! One guy who was lazy used to throw packages in the trash.

I haven't had a problem with UPS here. They always leave our packages on the front porch.

Our UPS isn't always the best either. We've had packages delivered to us that belonged to houses across the street, down and around the corners. Likewise, our packages have been put on someone's else porch, one which was a bag from Old Navy had been ripped open. Which reminds me, another time we had a box on our porch, the tape was off and it was open and it wasn't even for us and hubby didn't know it had been delivered? I think it's when our normal guy is not available, because he's nice and seems with it.. even though he's afraid of dogs, heh.

I've used DHL too and they are even worse. I didn't know so many people had the same kind of problems. I'll give them a call today and try to get this all fixed before they lose something.

Didn't know we were the only ones. UPS stuff has taken weeks to arrive before and usually is damaged. The UPS trucks keep SPEEDING up our driveway and destroying the parking area and the incline where you turn into it. One brilliant guy a few weeks ago used our YARD as a turnaround.. after a rainstorm... and tore soooo much of it up.

Unfortunately all the shippers have the same issues. I remeber working the QA dept for Fedex and watching loaders step on packages and throw them out of the truck onto the convayer belt instead of using the static rollers. I no longer work for any of them, I manage a shipping dept and deal with all of them. Fedex seems to be a little better but not great. UPS has lost all sorts of things, misrouted packages, packages that ended up on the wrong truck or even the address doesn't exist when they delivered to it the day before. I've had the same issues with all shippers.

The only thing I can say is to call and complain anytime you have issues. Demand your money back on shipments that didn't arrive on time.
