So, yesterday I posted about how when my brother and his family came in my brother got really edgy about my dog. He was worried that Mojo would attack his kids, since Mojo is of "questionable" breeding (ie a pit bull mix). And I got really upset about it, because I don't think that is very fair... since the only "bad" thing the dog had done was bark when the kids (2, 5, & 9yrs old) barged in yelling at 1am.
Well, here's the update -
Yesterday morning the kids reacted to Mojo's presence by screaming that he was going to bite them and ran away from him to hide. This was confusing to Mojo (and to me) since all Mojo was doing was standing there wagging his tail and playbowing. Not a very menacing creature that Mojo...
This morning things have changed. After presents were open, Mojo followed the youngest and kept licking her legs and hands. While her mother petted and made a big fuss about him being a good dog! :yikes:
My brother is still a bit wary of Mojo, but the general consensus seems to be that Mojo is a good dog. I've heard several members of my family say that they are impressed by how quiet and sweet that he is. And everytime he passes them I hear a chorus of "mojo is a good boy! What a good boy!"
Just like I've always said he was...
That's what has made my Christmas ... my family, as a whole, has started to accept that Mojo is a good dog. A good dog is not based on his breed mix or his breeding but on temperment I think.
PS: My dad thinks Mojo has a "sad" face. He keeps telling me "He looks so sad! It's those eyes... why are you so sad, Mojo?" And Mojo just looks at him with those steady brown eyes of his and wags his tail a few times. Awwww...
