The good news is they had places to go to so got out of the PM sooner rather than later. I am not familiar with the dachshunds rescues.

I am familiar with LSCR and the English Toy Rescue as I have fostered for LSCR and have adopted 2 from ETR. These dogs will stay in vet care for the next 2 weeks. If they need more vet care they will staylonger at the vet. Then they will go into foster care for a minimum of 2 weeks. Then they will be eligable for adoptions.

Some will stay in foster care for much longer before they will be ready for adoption. I fostered Rosi (she's on the LSCR site) for 3+ months because she needed time to come out of her shell. she had that deer in the headlight look about her when interacting with humans. She was very confortable around the other dogs and could be a little alpha even as a little puppy.

Another of my fosters, Waylon was ready to go to his forever home after 2 weeks in foster. He loved walking on a leash from day one.

My James a ETS/cavy mix that I adopted was hardly scarred from being in a puppy mill for his first 3+years. My Flynn a ETS is another story, he can still be very timid about going through doorways and being picked up. He loves to walk on a leash.

Many of the folks involved with ETS and LSCR have been doing this for a long time. They live all over the nation. Foster homes are all over too. If you want to help, there is a place for you.

Both of these breeds usually love other dogs and cats. Most need another dog to snuggle up with and learn from this other dog that the world outside the puppy mill is not so scary. None know about walking on a leash at first. They need a fenced in back yard to stay safe. The cavys seem to retain some of their spanielness and will stalk butterflies, geikgos and the such. The ETS not so much from my experience. They are 100% lap dogs.

It is my understanding that all the dogs (including the 800+ dachshunds)
had a place to go and were loaded out and transported today.

We took in 62 Cavaliers and English Toys, so our biggest need is donations to
go toward their vet care. Some of the dogs were extremely weak, dehydrated,
etc. and desperately in need of vet care which they are getting now. It will
probably take upwards of $25,000 to get all these dogs vetted, and that is if
there aren't any serious ailments.

If you know of people who would like to adopt or help donate toward their vet
care, please send them to our websites at:

www.luckystarcavalierrescue.org
www.englishtoyrescue.org

We need fosters and transporters throughout the year, so if you'd like
to volunteer to be on our transport list or foster, please do that on our
website under the Volunteer tab. (Unfortunately, there is a glitch in
our Volunteer application so you must submit the foster app without
any transport info and then go back and submit just the transport info
by itself.)

Thanks so much! Please feel free to cross-post this message.
