Backstory....About three days (two?) there were two dogs roaming outside my work. Both were very skinny with huge chains and padlocks around their necks. I took both dogs and the first night the husky looking dog found a new home and is doing fabulous with her new humans. The second dog appears to be a pit or pit mix and she's here. She's named and apparently we are keeping her. She's super sweet and smart. A lover for sure. I'm a little worried about DA issues in the future because we have another female dog, but I'm crossing my fingers. I'll post pictures in the dog section.

I don't post often so a lot of you might not recognize me, but I might just go picture crazy because this puppy is too cute for words.

That's great of you!!! And I recognize you ;) How old is she estimated at? as far as DA just don't leave them alone and keep you eye out, try to make sure there are no circumstances where they have to challenge (don't leave them out together at meal time or when there is a high valued item etc.). Congrats on the new dog, I can't believe how you found them :( you are an angel for these two dogs, can't wait for pics!

We named her Keiko. She's just an incredibly sweet and submissive puppy. I would estimate her at 3-4 months maybe? She still has her puppy teeth. I'm hoping the vet can give me an age when we take her on Saturday. Please cross your fingers that the vet gives her a good bill of health.

When does DA usually show up? Our female lab is very playful, but very aggressive around food. We feed them in different rooms, but I guess my fear is when the puppy gets older and comes into her own. Like I said, she's submissive to us and the older dog, but does that change with age?

It can change with age, or she could be imprinted enough by your Lab that she is always submissive to her, even if Keiko does become more dominant and aggressive to other dogs.

Tallulah is almost a year old (and is in her first heat right now  ) but so far, even though she's feisty and ready to call out non-family dogs who look at her crosseyed, she's figured out that Bimmer and Kharma - and even my mom's little elderly Rat Terrier - aren't to be harassed. She's really good about checking with Bimmer and Kharma to see if she's going to get in trouble, lol.
