I talked to my Mom this morning and she said Little Bit arrived late last night at her house. Mom was awake most of the night making the little dog comfortable as possible. She said he looks terrible. He's extremely overweight, 10 pounds more then a Chi should be. She took him to a 24 hr vet hospital and they put a cast on his leg and this morning he has a appointment with a specialist about his torn tendon. While at the hospital they took x-rays and his acl behind his kneecap is torn badly. She hopes she can get him into surgery as soon as possible. She'll keep me posted throughout the day. Mom is taking money out of her savings to pay for his surgery which will be $1000 I think. It pays to have money saved up for emergencies.

I'm so glad your mom is helping. He's been through too much and needs to be loved.

Emmalee,

Make sure your mom knows we all think she is a great person for risking family conflict and digging into savings to help a poor dog in terrible pain.

And Emmalee, you should also feel proud that you made it all happen.

It will truly be a great thanksgiving for Little Bit (although, from your mom's comments on his weight, you should suggest changing his name to Big Bit).

There is no way in hell she will do that  My mom is appauled about the whole thing. Mom has worked with rescues in the past and has fostered dogs a few times so shes all about saving dogs lives and finding new homes :)

Fantastic. I am so glad to hear that. This whole thing has me so upset!

I have a little one too and the thought of her gorgeous little leg being broken really upsets me!

Yes I know what you mean. It is upsetting. What kind of dog do you have?

Thank you so much for the wonderful update.
While she is at the vet I would get them to microchip her
as well with your moms information, just in case the
original owner tries to take her back after your mom
pays for the surgery.

Also taking pictures/video of the injuries of the dog might
help to back her off...

YAY! I'm so glad to hear that he's getting care. Your mom is an awesome person and you are too for getting someone to do something. I'm so happy for Little Bit! My day just got better. :)

Yea for little bit!! He deserves so much better than that woman! I'm so glad that he's now able to feel a little less pain now that the leg is casted. :D

This is great news!

I wonder if we could all send money to the vet to help cover the expense?
Thats kind of you to offer. I will suggest it to her.

Mom says he's doing much better today. He's on pain medication but he looks comfortable. He's got a nice clean bed and the Shelties like him. The specialist appointment went well and he is scheduled to have surgery tomorrow morning.
