I totally disagree. When pet puppies are priced the same it denotes nothing but acceptance of the fact that the puppy is a pet regardless of color, size or markings.
In some breeds, certain colors are harder to breed and therefore show prospects of that color are far more expensive (ie: Harlequin Great Danes) but pets should be priced the same regardless of color. JMO.
How many litters does this guy breed per year? I'd be wary of someone with two litters at the same time.

That's what scares me !!! It takes so much time and effort to do one litter properly , I could never done 2 at one time.! Some charge more for females figuring that the new owners will use her for money. Since I had a no breed clause, I charged the same. But these were Goldens.... I really don't know about other breeds and their colors.... but would say that in some cases, if a " rare " showed up ...they would be more valuable to a protential breeder.
I agree also... It doesn't seem to be the norm though.
I looked at some pomeranian breeders not too long ago, and some puppies had prices like, for show $1200, for pet $450, for the same dog. That is just so weird. That, plus they have different prices depending on the color as well. It made the whole thing pretty suspicious to me.

I've heard of that happening. I think it's a scam personally. Show dogs vs pet dogs sure I can see a difference in price... but coat coloring?
What are their rare coat colors that they are charging so much for? If you can get that answered from this breeder you could check with the local kennel club to see if they really are rare. Or are they just colors that would be judged as defective?
Is the smaller ones more expensive? Isn't the smaller ones also the ones with more behavioral/health problems? I don't know much about Chihuahuas but I think that's what I heard.
I'd also be pretty **** wary fo someone who had 2 litters at the same time. Actually I will be honest I am pretty wary of breeders altogether.. I think I'd like to strike up at least an accquaintanceship with the breeder before I'd buy from them. Long term association would probably suit me better if I were to ever go the puppy route.

its like paying more for a fake gucci purse cause it was made close to the real gucci factory (ok not really, but just as stupid!)
