So Dierk still has a retained testicle. He is aprox 4 months. The breeder says he can feal it, so we know its not in his abdomen, but it hasnt dropped.

What are your opinions on it being a genetic thing? No males in his 3 gen pedigree have had it and this is a first for the breeder.

i usually give it till 6 months he may just be a late bloomer.
females can carry it too so naything on moms side?

Nothing that we are aware of.

It could still drop , but I'd check with the vet .

i will add i wont breed a male whos still "up" after 6 months as a "just in case"

I know of a collie who didn't drop until 7 months. He got neutered anyway because he was going to a pet/working home, but I don't think I'd worry too much until after 6.

I, personally, wouldn't breed a retained. But those are just my feelings.

Has it ever descended into the scrotum? If only briefly?

I, too, wouldn't worry till he's older. Blaze's didn't drop till about 5 months IIRC.

Yeah give him time. Nard's didn't drop until he was older.

If he's a late bloomer, I'd say 6-8 mos. Undescended after 10 mos or so, then I'd be concerned.

Give him a lot of time. Also, try rubbing around the area pretty consistently - that can really aid it in dropping.
