Uncontrollable peeing.

I am so sick and tired of this. Pebbles pees every time she gets excited, and every time you pick her up. Its odd to me because she was never like this until recently. She is 5 months old, so I know that she is too young to have full control of her blader, but it is so bad!! I am about ready to beat her ass, but I cant.

I wish she was male, because I have never had a male with bladder problems. They can hold it longer at a younger age.

I just tried to let pebbles inside the house after 3 hours outside, and as soon as I grabbed her, she peed all over me, so now she gets to stay out for another 3 hours. Its 3 AM right now. This is going to be a long night...

I dont give her water for 4 hours before she goes to bed, but she found some water outside that I forgot to dump out.

She was doing really good about house breaking. But this is the 8th day in a row that she has peed in the house. She will pee right in front of me!! Just the other morning my b/f let her out of the crate to go outside, but she ran straight to my bed room, jumped on my bed and peed EVERYWHERE. I about killed her, and my b/f.

I keep her in the crate while I am gone and when I am sleeping, but she has no problem peeing in the crate after 2 hours. I have to bathe her every two days, and thats not healthy. She constantly stinks of urine.

Not sure what I am doing wrong. I want to pull my hair out...

Is it as you approach her/pick her up/someone enters the house?

Because it sounds like submissive weeing.

To me it sounds like submissiveness as well. Which is something that she may never be "trained" completely out of. I'd message one of the trainers on here and ask them for help directly.

I have a girl who use to do the submissive peeing, I just ignored it and she grew out of it.Also when you come home dont make a big deal about seeing her( I dont know if you are or not) just calmly take her out to potty.

oh gawd, my cousin has a Beagle/lab cross that used to tinkle everytime you say "HEY BOY, HOW ARE YOU!!!" He'd be SOO excited to see you he'd pee a little bit.

Soo.. what they did to stop that is they would ignore him when they got him and imediately take him outside to go pee and THEN make a HUGE deal about him.

Since they have been doing that, he never does the excited pee anymore.

With your uptight, angry demeanor and attitude and being about ready to kill her, if it were me, I'd pee my pants too. No wonder she's peeing like that. She's afraid of you!

I fostered a submissive/excitement urinator. Best thing to do is to get them outside as soon as you see them, and not acknowledge them until they have peed. Once they have, CALMLY and gently pay attention to them. I think it is a female thing, they seem to be more prone to submissive urination than males do.
The absolute worst thing you can do is get angry. I know it's easier said than done, but if y ou get angry with her for it she will most likely only pee more. The entire reason for wetting herself is to acknowledge your superiority, so yelling at her and punishing her for it won't do any good and will in all likelihood make it worse.

A lot of dogs seem to outgrow this, it may just be a phase. I would however take her to the vet just to rule out the possibility of a urinary tract infection or anything that could cause her to lose control like that. I sounds more like submissive urination but it's still a good thing to rule out the possibility of it being a physical problem.

Just be patient with her, and get a "diaper" type thing for her in the meantime to protect your house and your clothes!

I'm with RD...I'm sure the first time it happened you reacted and it's now a submissive fear reflex .. have her checked out... until then, whenever you pick her up, have a towel to hold under her bottom and don't scold.

I just pick her up myself and she pees, esspecialy when she comes in from outside, or when I let her out of her crate. She pees on my mom, and people that come to visit too. Oh, and when she gets in trouble she pees.

Yeah, I try to do that the best I can. Try not to make her excited.

I try really hard not to get mad. I never punish her for peeing out of excitement. When she peed on my bed, I punished her for running away from my b/f and not listening, I didnt punish her for peeing on my bed.

When she pees, I just put her outside ASAP. I dont even yell at her one bit.

Our male Aus. Cattle Dog has the same problem; we've had her for 2 weeks; he's 10 months old. I know how frustrating it is; but I dont have any good advice. Our dog even has a doggy door and 24-hour access to the large back yard. The one saving grace; 90% of the time is that if we head straight to the door; he will go out the doggie door and allow us to pet him on the back porch so the hardwood floor doesnt get messy.

Was she outside for 3 hours on her own? and why is she now spending another 3 hours out on her own?

When you say you punished her or about killed her what did you do to punish her? It does sound very much like submissive behaviour.

On a side note I find it strange that many US sites suggest taking water up and not giving access, by most in the UK that would never be done, its considered cruel and also trains a puppy to 'get it while it can' which can bring on problems health wise and training wise. Cultural differences again I suppose.

I absolutely disagree with removing water from the dog. (I'm from the U.S.) LOL. :) I've potty trained many a puppy and never let them be without water. I fed them fairly early in the evening or late afternoon and didn't feed again....but water....no. It's a terrible feeling to be thirsty and if a dog is thirsty and doesn't drink, it can have health consequences. The only time I've withheld water over night is when a dog was to have surgery the next morning.

Our 12 year old used to do that when she was young. It was definitely exitement and submissiveness. She out grew it. It's not something to punish for.

Gunnar had a period between about 6-8 months old where he'd pee if he was frustrated. If we were training and he had to make a choice he'd pee right where he was standing. It didn't last long and hasn't happened since. He also went thru a stage about the same time where he'd submissive pee- if I went to pick him up to weight him he'd squirt, or if you wanted to do something like clean his ears he'd pee. Hasn't happened for a while now luckily. Now when I call him to the bathroom to weigh in he runs to his crate instead... :) I don't know what freaks him out about it, there is no compulsion involved and he's praised like heck afterwards.
