Hector is a pit bull/blue heeler mix. He is almost one year old, very healthy and happy. We have a feeding routine down, and i've just set his food bowl down with the same amount of food int he same place as i always do. He is wandering around the house crying a little bit and he keeps approaching his bowl and pawing at the floor right in front of the bowl. He walks up to it, paws, walks away, comes back, eats a little, walks away, comes back, paws at it, cries... etc. etc. He doesn't seem ill... just that he wants something and i have no idea what it is.

The only thing i can think of is that yesterday he was fed wet and dry food together and today he only has dry food. Is he spoiled now and wants the mix again? Does he just not like the residue in his bowl from yesterdays food? What else could he be trying to tell me?

He's weirding me out.

If he's used to a specific consistancy, then yeah, any change is probably going to throw him off. It's also a good idea to wash out his bowl at least once a day if you're feeding wet food and there is a noticable residue. That can breed huge amounts of bacteria and possibly give your dog some stomach troubles.

Yeah, he's had wet dog food before, but it's not common... it's a special treat once in a while. There wasn't any noticable residue, but i'll wash the bowl out and see how he feels about it then...

Thanks ;)

If he seems healthy otherwise then I wouldn't worry about it to much. Just leave his food down for 20 minutes and if he doesn't eat it take it away. Feed him again at his next feeding time. He should eat. If not take it away again. Dogs won't starve themselves. But do make sure the bowl is clean. :)
